Would love to see an almost new bottom 6 too.
My ideal lineup for next season:
Kuzmenko Pettersson MikayevBeauvillier Miller Boeser
Garland Sissons Podkolzin
Nosek Blueger Joshua
Hughes Pesce
Cole Hronek
Soucy Juulsen
Demko
Jones
Probably need to dump Garland and acquire a cheaper third line winger.
Pearson will be back. Always thought of him as a good bottom 6 guy.

Damn that’s way too much to give them.
Brock with 1M retained is a value player.
Hogs potential is too high.
1st next year plus Hogs or Brock. Not both.
Absolutely too much !

Doubt it would happen, but I'd be pretty happy with these pairs (one for offence & one for physicality in each):
Hughes - Myers
Soucy - Hronek
Hirose - Tryamkin

To NSH:
11th overall
Connor Garland
To Van:
15th overall
Dante Fabbro
Or Foote instead of Fabbro ? (saves even more cap space)

Serious question.... can NHL trades still include cash ? Cause if so then trade Myers + $5M cash to a team that only wants to pay $1M and doesn't mind the $6M cap hit

Reinbacher, Wood, Leonard, Barlow, Dvorsky, Willander, Danielson, Stenberg in that order for me. If we want size and grit for the playoffs. All great choices at 11 if you're thinking past fancy perimeter players.
And SPEED !

I like the Hronek trade as well.
Would have loved it if it had included a 3rd instead of our 2nd.

He needs to buyout OEL. It makes too much sense not too.
Other options:
Trade a winger. It seems like that's going to happen. Garland's name is out there but I won't be shocked if they flip Anthony Beauvillier since he's on an expiring deal and they likely won't re-sign him. Boeser may also be flipped. I don't think moving Garland makes sense because Garland has experience with Rick Tocchet and thrived under him both here and in Arizona.Move Tyler Myers. Yeah, his cap hit is high but his salary is low. A team may bite without needing a sweetener unlike some of the wingers not named Beauvillier.
To save on cap, I don't think the Canucks sign a name back up goalie. There's a very good chance they just re-sign Collin D'Elia and roll with Demko/D'Elia as the tandem next season with Silovs as the call up option/starter in Abby. With that said, I think it's more realistic that Martin returns as the backup because of the signing of Mikita Talapila from the Allsvenseken. I think they'll want to run a tandem of Silovs/Talapia in Abby next season.
OEL buyout hit is too long and too high. He will stick around next year and (hopefully) be healthy this time around and bounce back.
His buyout can be revisited in a couple years.
Myers cap hit needs to go... a cap floor team will be interested after his bonus is paid, it's just getting him to waive.
At least one (two if Pearson comes off LTIR) wingers with cap hits over $3M need to be moved and replaced with Hogs, Kravstov, Karlsson, etc priced guys.
Won't be Kuzmenko and likely not Boeser, so one of Garland/Beauv/Mikheyev,
Poolman ? if not on LTIR I'm guessing is either waived or bought-out

Oel had pretty serious injury. You cant defend if your injury keeps you from skating. Studz has a lot of good things about his game. He battles, plays a solid north south game. He has upside still. Krav has tons of talent but i agree hes gotta take the next step.
OEL for sure, but then Martin.
I'm not down on him, but i had high hopes that this would've been Podz's breakout year.

9 goals and 40 points? When did we last have that production from any Defenceman not names hughes? and at 25 years old? Edler only did it twice
in his whole career. This guy makes just over 4 million. He's a RHD ....Sooo we got everything we wanted and are still upset? Foolishness...
Yzerman obviously decided to become a seller after losing twice to the Sens.
I look at this as opportunistic as it's probably just the first of a number of Wing moves coming now.
Hronek hits a lot of the right buttons for us as others have pointed out.... and RHD are harder to come by let alone one in our wheelhouse.

My theory is that they sat down with Luke and said they want to bring him back next year and asked which team he would want to go to.
it makes a tonne of sense he would pick Toronto - winning a cup with the Leafs would mean way more for Schenn than Boston/New York/Carolina given it’s the team who drafted him
If Vancouver approached Toronto and said nothing less than a 3rd this makes a lot of sense. I have a hard time thinking he would have only fetched a third when shopped around
This was exactly my take when i heard about the trade.

That is the kind of stuff that cannot be understated. Sure we should temper our excitement but the kid is joining a very welcoming environment and a coach that just showed discipline towards Kuzmenko ( CDC was losing their minds about him sitting ) and is steering him in the right direction to learn to play properly. Kuzmenko has been putting the time in, Podkolzin has been putting the time in and both have been rewarded. Kravtsov was given no such opportunities to learn in New York let alone have fellow countrymen, friends going through what it takes to make the lineup. The Ranger coaches have a history of not working with or giving opportunity to young players needing that coaching and direction. Look at Zac Jones, he is not a dog crap of a player he is in the same boat and give him a fresh start with opportunity and who knows.
Language barrier can be huge. Pods and Tryamkin both really struggled at first to understand what the coaches wanted and fit in with the team.

Eklund site (i know) saying Boeser deal is coming with Buffalo as the favourite.
Lyubushin or Jokiharju could work with Quinn

If Nikita was interested, I'd go as high as $2M on a 2-3 year deal. He'd be given more than an opportunity, and would have Kuzmenko, Podkolzon, Mikeyev to help bridge the Russian-Canadian gap and most importantly, a defense coach in Sergei Gonchar. Really, it's a pretty good fit.
Sure, there's how management dealt with Boudreau and Horvat..........uh..........That last line is a real shame since the bolded part probably represents the best situation him and his wife could find in the NHL. Gonchar especially.

Is there a source for Bo’s Dad speculating on Detroit or Boston?
Not an official one. My hockey buddy runs the service bay at the car dealership Tim uses, and that's what Tim told him the when he was there a couple weeks ago.

couple of reasons why Detroit is a good trading partner for Horvat:
1. they have one of the best prospects pools in the entire league with Kasper (C), Edvinsson (LHD) which means they have the assets for a hockey trade of this magnitude
2. they have tons of cap space and therefore are able to re-sign Horvat
3. they need a 1C / 2C to become a playoff team, finally - Stevie is well aware of the fact that a 1C/2C is the missing puzzle to complete the rebuild
4. Canucks probably would like to have Hronek (RHD) to come back the other way
And Bo would be interested in Detroit, since his home is by my town which is about an hour away.
Every Canuck game in Detroit he has a whole section of family and friends come to see him.
It's also where his dad thinks he'll end up (Det or Bos he said)

For what? So we can stay in the mushy middle.
It's a mirage man!
Kuzz tires are pumped. He's good don't get me wrong it takes skill to do what he is doing. But he's not irreplicable he has the highest OZ starts on the team, lowest hits, refuses to engage in puck battles he's taken what 1 penalty all year, lowest blocked shots on the team, bloated shooting % of 24.7 ya that's coming down. I love Kuzzi at 4.5 M but as soon as he puts pen to paper on a 6+m extension it won't be worth the paper it was signed on.
It's so easy to get swept away in the excitement for our shiny new toy. We don't need a soft top 6 scoring winger. We need to sell high before the league catches on.
I got roasted by everyone here for years calling a spade a spade with Brock. And I'm telling you right now we will never get past the 1st round spending 12+M on those 2.
We need more guys who are willing to get into a dog fight. By this I'm not saying we need goons but we need heart. We need Mottes, Petterssons, Lockwoods, Garlands, Tony Stretcher and a pissed of Quinn Hughes. Now you add some Jeanott, Miller, Schenn, Bo to that mix and we start to have a playoff team.
Kuzz is luxury we cannot afford since we blew all our dinner money on cheezy poofs.
Petey needs a winger that can play at his elite level. You're not just finding that in a draft pick or a prospect someone is willing to trade away.
I'd get rid of every winger over $3M before trading Kuz unless he won't take a bridge deal.

Oooh very interesting. I think I'm comfortable with the overall value, but that makes me think harder for sure. Picking up those 2 players could change the franchises trajectory of they both hit.
I still say that ANY Horvat deal MUST get back a potential partner for Hughes. No other return other that the 1st overall pick will change the team's trajectory moving fwd.

[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Posted
Maybe they'd want to clear the next 2 yrs of Murphy's deal since he's 30 and won't fit into their rebuild ? (Myers wouldn't either, but he'd only be on their books for 1 yr).
Myers (1 year / $6M hit / $1M cash) for Murphy (3 yrs / $4M hit)
If they Hawks retained 25% for us taking on 2 more years of Murphy, then we'd clear $3M off this season's cap and have Murphy at $3M hit for two more years.
