Got to flip Garland now, I hope we don't lose Pearson because he's perfect for the 3rd line whereas Mikheyev slots right into our middle 6, depending on how well Kuzmenko and Podkolzin play.

Right now I'd argue we have the best offensive depth in the division. Weakest RD depth though, but lots to change surely.

    Pettersson - Miller - Mikheyev

    Kuzmenko - Horvat - Boeser

    Pearson - Dickinson - Garland

    Lockwood - Lazar - Podkolzin

That's how we lineup right now. Need to fix that 3C and flip a forward for a defenceman.

    And that's without Hogie

Well on the positive side we now have 2 Alien's... That's going to be confusing as hell for those "listening" to a game..

Pettersson passes to Petterson, Petterson takes it behind the net, passes to Pettersson, for the one time from the circle and Pettersson scores!!!

How about..... "did Pettersson get the goal or was it Pettersson's?"

    I don't think it's that straight-forward, necessarily.

As others have said, the sample size is small. There is nothing to suggest he can maintain that point pace, although whoever signs him will certainly be hoping for such.

I'll also speak to the Dickinson side, whereby he simply had a bad year. His shooting % was significantly less than it was the 2 seasons prior, and his faceoffs were the worst since he entered the league. No, he didn't look good - but I feel that IF we were to keep him on for another full season we'd see at least somewhat of a resurgence from him. He's also supposed to be a really stand-up character guy, which I think is an element which may not be seen on the ice but certainly helps in the locker room.

What if we did what you suggest... get rid of Dickinson and then replace him with Marchment. Then say Dickinson has a resurgent year, and Marchment falls back to earth. In such a scenario, not only are we adding a sweetener to move Dickinson, but we also sign ourselves to a likely multi-year deal for *another* guy who isn't playing to his contract. No, I'm not saying this is what WOULD happen, so much as it's what COULD happen.

    Is it worth the risk?

I don't recall seeing much physicality out of Dickenson, so not sure if that's really part of his game but it's definitely something we need to improve at overall.

So if MM provides an upgrade there then it'd be worth it physicality (same goes for speed)

My preference would be they choose to keep Miller and trade Horvat. I like Horvat and a lot about him but also see a lot of weakness in his overall game and the biggest is inconsistency where he goes through long stretches of doing absolutely nothing to help the team when needed spending a lot of shifts stuck in his own zone so tired he can barely stand up and a shooting gallery on Demko.

Anyway on Miller possibly going to the Devils because it's likely that he's the guy traded what I'd like for a deal is we trade Miller and our 15th for their 2nd and take the best defenseman available and Jesper Bratt and then get Marchmant.

Imo this trade and these moves would be absolutely amazing for the future of our team!

Bo is our best at draws and shootouts though is he not ?

We've got to move some wingers before we take on more of them.   And then decide if we go with Petey as 1C or find another center to replace Millers draws.

Marino as the main piece doesn't move the needed for me, at all - and I hope I misinterpreted you and your actually joking,  no disrespect.  And people clamoring for Kapanen in the deal (which is a pkg I've heard too often I'm worried about it) seem to overlook he was outscored by Pearson who played less gm's and for whatever reason people want to get rid of Pearson at any cost?

I see a need on the Pens side,  but  not necessary a match with the elite assets Miller should be commanding in return.

But that's just me, I'm in favor of 'quality over quantity ' in any Miller deal.

I agree.   Moving Miller only makes sense if we get back a potential star player or a pick low enough to draft one.

So if we get his rights prior to free agency we can give him an 8.25x8 deal.  I would do that.  Give them MDP or a 4th.  Then trade Miller for a RHD and a 1st round pick and another prospect.  I'd keep Boeser to complete the top 6 and then revamp the 3rd line into a size and speed line.  Roy and Mikheyev fit the bill for size and speed.  Add Hague to the back and we are set.

    Forsberg        Pettersson    Boeser

    Kuzmenko     Horvat           Podkolzin

    Mikheyev       Roy              Garland

    Deslauriers   Lammikko     Highmore

    Lazar

    Hughes      Schneider

    OEL           Myers

    Hague       Schenn

    Dermott     Burroughs

    Rathbone

    Demko    Martin

Cap works even adding Ferland's LTIR and the buyout and the bonus money...

If mgmt can pull that lineup off (and i'd love to see it) they'd be automatically the best front office we've ever had.

Depends on who comes back.  Pretty far fetched but if we do the following, we’d be slightly better:

-Miller, Pearson and 15OA for 2OA (Slafkovsky or Nemec) and Zacha

    -Myers for Marino

-Shed Dickinson and Poolman for free or a slight add of later picks.

    -Sign Forsberg, Kuzmenko, Zadorov

Chance of half of that happening is nearly 0% however we will get returns by moving those guys and free up cap to add better fitting pieces in FA.

    That Miller deal is horrible

Zacha's not primarily a center (even though he played 70 games, he still took the fewest draws of his career with only 377.  Compare that to the likes of Bergeron (1600) and Horvat (1475) and that's not even close, and it might be a stretch to ask him to play up the middle full-time.  The value is there, but just thinking that for center duties we should target someone else (e.g. Michael McLeod, who's consistently good at draws and even subbed on to take draws just to get possession before subbing off [Mercer's probably better as a player but his scoring isn't there yet, plus he was 35% on draws this year]).

I'd rather target Roy for 3C

Hilarious guy ... one liners sure came fast and witty.   Some of the things he said wouldn't be seen as ok anymore " puck bouncing like an Indian Rubber (lacrosse ball)" during his  play by play - but that one is a legendary quip lol.

Old Bob Cole and Neale where quite the tandem....when he won the Foster Hewitt award "I think it's just because i'm old - my social security card has two numbers on it" ...

Funny how he spent so much time with two franchises that have suffered more then any other, suppose that's why he has such a sense of humour lol.    Canucks and Buffalo, with a good sprinkling in of Toronto too.    Their fans have three generations of fans now that haven't seen a cup lol.   Maybe it's a survival mechanism.

Haven't heard Indian rubber in a while but strange if it's considered not PC since it named for rubber tree sap from trees in India

......................after watching that "infamous" Detroit/Buffalo Let-down weekend (3 weeks ago) I'm not surprised,   This team has been playing "DOWN" to their opponents level all season.  Points to a lack of inherent will & motivation.  The only fix for that is: A change of personel, as it's hard (but not impossible) to reprogram that into players.  I suspect JR, Alvin & The Chipmunk Girls know that and will take action accordingly this off season.

What was especially hard to watch was the way they laid back on their heels for the first 5-8 min of the 2nd and 3rd periods.

I get they were tired and due for a let down, but once again that sit back and let the game come to mentality gave Ottawa a lot of life.

I think Petey's wrist is less than 100%.

He probably needs time in between games to rest it hence, why his performance reverted back to being passive. He was struggling quite a lot with the puck and passed up on a few shooting chances.

There was a PP sequence where the puck simply dribbled of his stick a few times effectively wiping that PP out.

Plus he repeatedly tried to find Brock instead of ripping a one timer.

Love Petey but he was obviously not feeling it last night.
