I'd like to see what we have in Keeper and Juulsen first, besides I think we might have eyes on better ufa's on defense like Manson, Miller or Zadarov.
Mansons going to have a bidding war for him… no thank you… Miller would be interesting but still in favour of making a move to bring in a dman with term on a good contract

Wonder how this affects JTs negotiations
3 1/2 years younger scored similar goals, 14 less points contract brings him to 33 (100 % of contract is prime years) I do understand centre’s Seem to fetch higher value than wingers and JT is a bit more proven but I do not see a world where he is getting more than 8 million and if he wants term 7/8 years that number HAS to come down to 7 to make sense
Also feel it’s risky for him to be traded to a contender and end up burried in depth due to systems or just not being a fit and having his AAV drip down to 6 next summer

Middlestadt (who is useless) + #9th overall for a bona fide tweener 1st/2nd fully developed C is underpayment for Bo.
If the Sabres want Bo, they can skip Midds and add Alex Tuch to the 9th overall.
Alf...you of all people bringing up Middlestadt in a trade. Shame on you!
I was watching quite a bit of Sabres games down the stretch and I actually really thought CM is becoming a solid player, it’s hard to break out when you got all these distractions and lack of commitment around you, but Miller ain’t resigning in Buffalo they ain’t making that trade without that security of knowing he’s re uping with them

Miller wants to be on a winning team and he wants to be the go to guy…. I see Canucks and milsy figure something out

This makes 0 sense, Rathbone is ready to come step in and that will be our left side

Drance is clearly a sports nerd who thinks he’s a pro scout because he can read some advanced stats from a website.
This market deserves better media!
Guy only responds to fans with limited knowledge on Twitter as well he won’t answer to valid points that fans make that prove his theory’s wrong or misinformed/stretched

You asked for a list, I gave you one. I'm not suggesting that's what we should take (OMGZZZ... BEST OFFER EVER!).
Though we could probably do worse
I didn’t lol

It's really not. It's called a contract year because it has a disproportionate effect on what players get payed not because it's the only factor a team takes account of. The main reason to pay a player is based on what you think you'll have.
If you look at prior players up on “contract years” more often than not a reflection of their current season is the ground they stand on to what they Scribble their name beside… obviously there is more taken into consideration but clearly that is the main focus point from a managements perspective

McCann .22gpg .47ppg
Boeser .38gpg .80ppg
Boeser 51 gp 33 points
McCann 50pg 33 points
It’s called a “contract year” for a reason you pay for what you got not what you had or what you could have.

Damn this guy is someone I’ve wanted for a long time, wonder if there could be a sign and trade worked out with us send Nashville back someone that helps them now… would be a nice shake up on our roster he’s going to be 28 next season he has 5 prime years left in him I’d like to think, injury prone is my only concern about the guy but can’t see him coming in on much more than 6.5 on the flat cap

Chayka's work was apparently not recognised by the analytics community.
Drance tweets: "Unlike Dellow, Tulsky, Metcalf, Parnass and co. Chayka didn't publish publicly. His statistical work wasn't reviewed in academic circles or by the online community. Hockey's statistical analyst community has tended to be deeply skeptical of black box work."
Analytics gets blown up and then it’s “oh that wasn’t the proper way of using analytics”

Yeah people can be absolute bitches sometimes, and ones that don't understand hockey either. He's a perfectly good back up goalie. He struggled in his last game. Get over it people.
I think people are more upset with the contract more than his play..when we got a potential just as capable goalie at league minimum down in the minors, some would argue Spencer is coming into his own and would be a high end backup and giving off his small sample size we seen im a believer of that, none the less yes halak is a great back up our team has just been exposed when demko isint playing out of his mind for us

Heard Craig Button earlier today, saying if the Canucks trade Miller, they better get a #3 Dman in return. He doesn't feel a package of all picks and prospects is wise, as you never know if those players will have NHL careers. Miller is a proven, top NHL player with a good contract in his prime.
Here's a list of some (possibly) #3 Dmen:
BOS - (R) Carlo
CAR - (L) Slavin or (R) Pesche
COL - (R) Girard
FLA - (L) Gudas or (R) Montour (or is he more of a 4/5?)
NYR - (L) Lindgren or (R) Schneider
PIT - (R) Marino
STL - (R) Parayko
WAS - (L) Orlov
This could be more of a straight up player trade though, maybe a mid-round pick or two added by the other team, but the Canucks would get something they really need.
Not sure I like this idea, as it's always nice to have the extra high pick and a prospect to look forward to. BUT, Demko would have better D in front of him. They could be a tougher team to beat with better D.
Is carolina willing to part with Slavin? Or is that just spitballing ? That guy is a workhorse very big on his game

I love the what Garland brings (tenacity, speed, skill with a reasonable contract) and I'd hate to lose him but, like all the trade options, it depends on what it brings back. If it was just for a second rounder, I wouldn't be interested. If it was for a good young RHD prospect or a first rounder, it would grab my attention.
Absolutely but would have to be a devils or another team where the pick sits around top 10-15 for it to make sense for me we coulda had guenther or sillinger If we didn’t trade for him and one would argue his stock grew since we gave up a high first for him (rumours I read said we added a first to get him in the deal can anyone confirm? Or am I spittin nonesense?)

Drance knows more about sports analytics but to suggest to someone you don’t know he knows more about the game than then is also a very bad take, do we even know if he’s ever played hockey, that’s why people that play the game say analytics are not a great way to judge someone because there is far to many little stats not documented that build up into making a player good that are missed because of others
