  1. this Pittsburgh trade actually makes a lot of sense and what people need to Realize is Sutter is not the centre piece in this trade at all, The Canucks simply get him because he's not that bad and he's a centre which they need Vancouver is still in a playoff race whether is rebuild/tool time or not. Matta is definitely the centre pice he's 19 with 25 points and a +13 he can be better than Edler easily Bennet is a power forward just as ready as Kassian is i think you could get a second from them as well. if you have to trade Hansen too you do it The Edler trade looks a little unfair though no way philly gives all that up. Simmonds is 25 and locked up for 5 more years at 4 million cap hit. i see Edler for Simmonds & a 2'nd
  2. in a trade with columbus i gurantee the Canucks would demand johansen or Murray and Jenner. whether Columbus would agree is another question
  3. I bet montreal is very interested in kesler maybe not the front runner but what do you guys think they would offer or what would the Canucks want from them?
  4. Kesler for Bennett Sutter and matta really isn't that bad of a deal, Sutter isn't anything special but he's more in the trade to fill a need at centre for this year once Kesler is gone. the keys are Bennett & Matta especially Matta in my opinion Matta is just 19 years old playing in the nhl with 25 points and a plus 13. Bennet played some games for pittsburgh last year and did pretty well he's a 22 year old power forward. If the Penguins added a 1'st or even a 2'nd i'd definitely do that trade and getting Matta definitely opens the door to trade Edler for forward help The Canucks would have 2 more years of Matta's ELC and 1 for Bennet, the cap savings could allow them to go for a good ufa.
  5. Detroit and philly are looking for D-men, i wouldn't rule out kesler to those teams but it would be more probable to see Edler go to one of those 2 teams and kesler some where else. as much as people don't like it I could see kes to toronto for Kadri plus mor the canucks were apparently interested in him for Lu prior to his break out year last year
  6. General manager Ken Holland, who spoke to about six fellow GMs while at the Olympics, tells MLive.com he is looking for a defenceman, but only if the price is right. “This time of year you’re always looking for defencemen, but obviously there’s a lot of teams looking for defencemen,” Holland said. “We’ll see. It depends on what’s available. I don’t see us playing a big price on a rental. I don’t believe that’s the direction we should go but you never know when you get to Wednesday.” sounds like Detroit would be a perfect fit as a trading partner for Edler especially since Edler is locked up for 4 more years at a pretty good price & considering the cap will be going up for a few more years. loook at the red wings young player/ prospects at forward Mantha Jurco Jarnkrok Nyquist Tatar Sheahan I think Nyquist & Mantha is too steep no way Holland does that but Nyquist and Shaehan would be pretty good Nyquist is already showing he's producing Sheahan to some extent as well (12 pts in 20 gp) and he's 6'2" 212 pounds I'd throw in Hansen if they want some forward depth maybe Edler & Hansen for Nyquist Sheahan & 3'rd only problem is there will be cap issues
  7. I love the Edler trade i doubt you'd get both those guys but I'd hate to trade Kesler to any west team especially the hawks. the return values matters most but I think you could get a better return from a eastern team
  8. that looks really good especially Higgins Burrows & the sedins are the only older players. Id have Kassian on the 3'rd line until he finds more consistency, i think Burrows will step it up at least a little
  9. this could be one of the reasons for the Weise for Diaz trade. not that you need a reason it was a good trade regardless look at our top 6 d-men when healthy without Edler Hamhuis Bieksa Garrison Tanev Stanton Diaz Corrado next year replace Diaz for Corrado, although we could re-sign him I love the idea of trading Edler for a young forward like Schenn especially if we get a pick too. we need offence and as far as depth goes how hard is it to find 6,7,8'th defensemen
  10. I'd like that philly deal for kesler and the detroit deal for Edler, we would need a centre though Nyquist & Simmonds would look great in our lineup. some much needed offence Nyquist is on pace for 63 points over 82 game and simmonds 58 both more than Kesler. throw in a 1'st & Sheahan & it looks pretty good,
  11. next year replace schroeder with Horvat and keep Schroeder as a 13'th forward & replace Booth with Jensen, Shinkaruk or a ufa & possibly bump higgins down to the 3'rd line
  12. It really would make more sense for philly to go after Edler I could see toronto being interested in Kessler Edler & Hansen for Simmonds and a 1'st Kesler & a 3'rd for Kadri & a 1'st would you be happy with the return? Sedin Sedin Burrows Higgins Kadri Simmonds Booth Schroeder Kassian Sestito Richardson Dalpe Hamhuis Bieksa Garrison Tanev Stanton Diaz LU Lack with 3 first round picks
  13. thank you 44 points in 48 games is no joke, yes ryan kesler has a selke too but Kadri is a super competitive guy and should outscore kesler in the years to come. kesler may be a more complete player but Kadri is younger and for that reason alone i'd do Kadri for Kesler especially since you could probably pry a pick out of toronto too something like Kesler & 3'rd for Kadri & 1'st The Canucks would also save 2 million in cap space for next year that would be a great trade for Vancouver
  14. id do Kesler and Hansen for Simmonds & either 1 of Schenn or Couturier. all three of these guys can play in the top 6 It would be a 29 & 27 year olds for a 25 and 21/22 year olds Simmonds has a great contract too 4 mill cap hit for 5 more years after this year and he's only 25 preferably Couturier though because he has 2 more years on his ELC good luck getting two young top 6 forwards with good contracts though
  15. what do you guys think of Kesler food Kadri ++? kadri has a pretty good contract this year and next at 2.9 million then RFA
  16. Columbus is a young team with a bright future so I'm sure they wouldn't want to trade away too much youth. With that being said they could also trade gaborik to make up for some of their loss of assets in a kesler trade. Kesler is signed beyond this year and Gaborik is not. Kesler could be a good fit there and I believe they would make the playoffs with the addition of Kesler depending on what they trade away. It would be nearly impossible for the Canucks to get better in the short term and long term so Gillis shouldn't demand a 25ish yr old 2'nd line centre and instead get the player/s with the highest ceiling in my opinion. The only way I could see the Canucks improving short term & long term is if they get a player in the trade on a entry level contract and reinvest the cap savings of kesler's contract into a ufa for next year. which could be said about any player they trade ex. Edler
  17. Canucks need to get younger but Franzen would be a good fit short term. what about this Edler, Hansen, Jensen for Nyquist & Franzen? Sedin Sedin Franzen Higgins Kesler Nyquist Booth/Kassian Richardson Burrows Booth/Kassian Lain Sestito
  18. The canucks need to get younger but the cap numbers need to work and Franzen fits. Edler, Hansen, Shroeder for Nyquist & franzen
  19. meaning you could forget that he's a ufa in that particular case
  20. I was gonna say on the condition he re-signed, meaning Vancouver would talk to him and his agent before the trade
  21. as much as i'd like to see some young skilled players brought in if you traded the right players for Vanek you wouldn't be hurting the future what about Edler & burrows or Hansen for Vanek? obviously Vanek is the better player but Edler is signed for 5 more years and he's still a valuble defencemen who just needs a change of scenery.
  22. couldn't agree more always hated this guy and not just bc he's a Canuck hater. Him, Scott Oake and Nick Kypreos are the 3 i can't stand the most. I'm not a hatter but Kypreos and Healy are so negative and think they are the smartest people on earth and are never wrong. Scott Oake is more because his stupid insulting like questions that often make no sense he's a moron. Most people I actually like, guys like Bob Mckenzie, Jim Hughson and the vast majority.
