Yeah I think Baer's got him in the skill department but I think hunters got a little more compete in him. Every time I watch shink I'm super impressed how hard he battles on the boards. Almost got a bit of that relentless Gallagher swagger.

I like Kass but if we could move him to boost our defense or get in the top ten I'd do it. Opens more opportunity for virt to make the team too.

I don't know if it's higher but sure a lot more likely to reach it based on consistent compete level.

If we do face them in the playoffs and get into injury trouble on the left side, he might be a pretty good option to put in. Guy would have something to prove against them and play harder than anyone in the series(other than Bo of course, cus Bo knows).

Even if he could drop something close to chronic 2001 I'd say the 2nd was worth it but I just don't see that happening.

Yeah I'm not too worried about that. If shink comes out of the gate dominating that much that we consider waiving Sven, that's awesome. Means we've got another damn good kid coming in and exceeding expectations. I don't even think that would be the writing on the wall for Sven either. I could see us jetting out another vet before we waive a kid with so much promise. This just buys us time with shink and gaunce. There's no need to rush them unless they're blowing us away. Even then we found a way to keep both Bo and vey this year. No reason we can't do it again. Benning's a smart man, he's nine steps ahead of all of us. He probably weighed out every what if and how he'd solve it before he pulled the trigger on the trade. The only thing that can go wrong is Sven craps the bed completely and I think that's a long shot. He's already shown he can play in the nhl, just don't tell him to play 6 minutes of goon hockey and wonder why he's not doing it right.

That's a good thing. Brings out the best in every player trying to make the club. When shink gets narrowly edged out by Sven he'll giver even harder down on the farm. I think he'll be used far better here anyways. Even if he starts out on our 4th line. A willie fourth line is going to get a lot better opportunity than Hartley's go beat someone up, mcgrattan 4th line.

I gotta give it to benning just on the entertainment factor of this trade alone. One day he's claiming quiet deadline, can't sell or buy, preps us for a canuck snooze fest today. Then bam last minute trades a second for a somewhat struggling top prospect of a rival. Can't wait to see what he's got.

Ritchie looked pretty good after the switch up too. The line up seemed to improve all around. One thing we gotta do is quit the one man army bs. Aside from the top line, everyone seems to try to be the star and forgets their linemates. Nurse is the worst for it! If we don't move the puck, we're asking for it in the elimination rounds.

Man looking at hockeys future now that Jake and them are on there, we're looking pretty good for quality youth. Still lots of room to fill it out but the names at the top all have the upsides to building a deep and character rich team. Virtanen Shinkaruk Jensen Horvat Gaunce Vey Mccann Demko Cassels Corrado Tryamkin Hutton All quality prospects IMO that have a real good shot of being good nhlers. Add to that Kassian and Tanev already in the show, we're really doing not bad at all.

Don't count out jake, he's got first line winger tools. Kids got a better shot than most nhlers already. When he's 25 he could be bangin in 40 goals with that speed, shot and toughness. He's got the attitude and swagger for it too. I'm thinking this kids going to be one of our next allstars. Just a hunch but he's got his hometown behind him, I got a feeling he's gonna be the one that exceeds all expectations and goes to stardom.

Why not both? We got the money, if we're getting iggy might as well get the best goalie on the market. It might actually be more enticing to iggy if we get a goalie of miller caliber.

Ya it would be great for razzin the flames fans haha I'd buy the iggy jersey just for a season if we signed him. Running into a flames fan at the pub while wearing your blue iggy jersey would be priceless.

Why not? He'd be the perfect bridge player for a couple years till a couple more guys are ready. I'd rather overpay for iggy for 2yrs than someone else for max length.
