I count 3 odd man rushes directly his fault as well, which has exaggerated my vision of the goals.
Fact is Myers has been AHL quality all game. We pay him 6 mil a year. He deserves to be benched next game
Myers needs a complete reset... a trip to the press box might give him some perspective.
All of his errors are mental... most are unforced.
Its like he is in a complete brain fog most games.

What is wrong with Miller... was it something he ate?
Yeah he made a nice pass to Horvat, but the rest of the time he is skating around like a prima donna in a funk because their tutu is too tight.

Seattle is legit.
Its almost like they used analytics to build a team and didn’t just hand out 6 million dollar contracts to whoever was available…
Can't imagine who you are referring to.

Come to Vancouver... and feast on the worst defensive team in Canada.

That's what happens when you paint yourself into a corner.
They didn't have a CAP problem with signing him... Tanev went for 4.5 mil... and they signed his replacement, Nate Schmidt for $6 mil.

Team didn't play hard till the 3rd period... sleepwalking till then.
Can't do that in the NHL... except bottom feeders, most teams are too good to allow bunches of goals to be scored late.
-
Same old, same old.
Meanwhile Tanev is there for the Flames in the most critical defensive moments... getting it done.
Thanks to previous management letting him walk.
-
Garland isn't having a good year, but he hasn't quit... unlike Miller.
He always tries hard... whatever line he is playing on.
And Dries is working hard to get back to the big club.
More than I can say about the top six.

If the Canucks go on to lose this game then I think it is the beginning of the end.
They have a really tough road trip coming up... followed by the same opposition coming to Vancouver.
Their chances of going on a run during that period is very low... they have to hope for .500 hockey.
This Calgary game is one they should have had a good chance of winning.
But they are mailing it in and it won't do.

All due respect to Eddie, but maybe getting traded extended his career a bit and what was needed in terms of a shakeup to get him back into form. A new challenge.
Sometimes that’s just what it takes for a player. It’s no slag on our club.
Actually it is.
Green was playing Edler as a #1 D.... which he clearly wasn't.
Too much of a load... too much ice time.
LA took him and initially put him on the 3rd pairing... then moved him up to the 2nd pairing... and then the 1st pairing when Doughty got injured.
This year it is the third pairing.
Right now I'd take Edler at $750,000 per year on the 5/6 rather than any of the current Canucks who are playing that position.

Thinking Miller needs to be demoted to 2nd Unit Powerplay.
He is contributing nothing right now...
- Not gaining entry well for PP
- Not getting set up for a one timer pass from Hughes
- Not attacking the net... all he does is take the occasional shot from the periphery... he is the one guy in the Canucks who can take the puck to the net... he's not doing it
- Not making the passes to Horvat that are needed... because he is not moving around and forcing the D to shift and open passing lanes
The whole PP is very static right now... they are complacent after their good start... meanwhile everyone in the league has the book on them.
I would prefer to see Mikhayev or Boeser get a chance and see what they can do.
And maybe the demotion might light a fire under Miller.... he needs a kick in the a$$ to get him out of his self-satisfied/self-righteous sulk.

Are you kidding? All I heard his last 6 months with the Canucks was he sucked, and was too old, and too slow.
Funny how that didn't seem to be the case in LA.
When Doughty went down in the playoffs, Edler stepped up and was their best D.
-
Story on Alex Edler in relation to his 1000th game and his effect on the Kings.
Really highlights what a blunder it was to let him go... along with Tanev.
This team could have been far more competitive with those two on the blueline... and at a small cost compared to what we have paid.

Canucks absolutely need to win this game.
Another performance like they put in versus the Jets and it will be a really bad start to the next series of games... all against tough teams.
Next 10 games will probably determine their season and whether or not they make the playoffs.
And whether they will have to make big changes or try to keep the same core.

If he re-signs with them.
All signs point to him wanting to get out of Winnipeg.
In that case, the Canucks should go all out to sign him.

All those who start shouting about quitting these boards should just quiet down and THINK.
I will admit a younger and stupider version of myself after the Bruins/Canucks Stanley Cup finals lost his temper and announced he would never watch another NHL game and would never post on these forums again.
Well, here I am. Sure I still not happy about what happened in those finals, but the game endures... despite idiots like Bettman.
And as another point... those who make personal attacks on other posters should also think twice... not acceptable.

Hey Buddy... just relax, you'll regret it in the morning.
Just enjoy the games for their good points and forget the rest.

2022-23 Visp EHC Swiss-Sw 11 10 6 16 Never say never.... but in this case, the team doesn't need more forwards... it needs to lose forwards and find D.

Here's the good news.
Delia is continuing his great play... he looks like a bonafide NHL backup... or even a starter for a team whose goaltending is suspect.
Which means that if Demko comes back and starts to play like he can, then the Canucks have nice trade bait with Delia or Martin... either would work well behind Demko.

Mark Schieffle is quietly having another excellent year with goalscoring.
He is not putting up the assists he usually do because his line mates are uncharacteristically having problems converting his passes.
But if they do start to find the back of the net, and some of the injured players come back the Jets are gonna go on a roll.
-
Miller was actually right to yell at Delia to get out of the net... he should have moved to the bench earlier. BUT Miller did have a lousy game, nearly gave the puck away multiple times and showed poor intensity.
Miller needs to step it up... we are approaching the mid point of the season, he is the third man of the three big guys behind Pettersson and Horvat and he needs to show that more often.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:
The Jets got the better of the Pierre Luc Dubois/Patrik Laine trade.
Dubois is only 24, same age as Petey, but PLD is a power forward, and they typically mature later.
He has the size, the hands and the physicality to be dominant.
He will be a star in the league and the centerpiece of the Jet team for many years.
-
Lacking intensity, undisciplined, failed to take advantage of their opportunities. No way the Canucks deserved to win against a badly depleted Jet team.
The string of three stupid penalties in a row in the 2nd were the killer.
Plus when they had the man advantage, end of the 1st with the lead, and beginning of the 2nd, again with the lead, they couldn't run up the score.
They allowed the Jets to take over the game and dominate it with their forechecking.
I don't blame Delia... he had a decent game but was pounded with shots.
Pettersson was the best Canuck, although he made a few mistakes as well.

Good to see them put away the Sharks... as they should.
Martin had a really good game... he was scrambly, but he got the job done.
Still have lots of concerns about their defensive coverage, although they looked better tonight.
But examples of assignments missed were there... most noticeably when Erik Karlsson sifted his way through the center of the whole team and then set up a wide open Timo Mier.
Next game is versus the Flames and is really important... they need to win that one to put themselves in firm contention for a playoff berth.

Sorry to say folks, but this team isn't gonna make the playoffs.
