  1. Another monster game by JT... but that hardly needs to be said... everyone who is not blind can see the way he is playing now he is one of the best in the league. The GM who trades Miller without first making a really good effort to sign him is gonna have to be watching out for the lynching party. Thought it was a good game for Boeser too. I know everyone is gonna talk about Pettersson and his goal and the assist on the empty netter but what impressed me the most otherwise was the improvement in his play on the PK. He is really developing a great sense of positioning and anticipation... if he keeps this up he might end up as a real short handed threat. All the stars of the team are doing a great job on the PK... Miller, Horvat, Pettersson... nice to see. And last but not least, I have to give a shout out to the Motto Line for ANOTHER huge game.... they were all over the opposition all game, pressure, pressure, pressure. Coulda had several goals. Guys are money in the bank...
  2. Wasn't a good night for Quinn Hughes... looked like the Quinn of last season... not good for Schenn either. Miller/Boeser/Pearson line put up lots of points but stunk it out defensively... Horvat line was our best, Chiasson somehows seems to have found a fit with Bo and Podz... still could be replaced. Really liking Podkolzin's two way play... some excellent backchecks, good plays in the D-Zone. And he is continuing to play hard in a forechecking role... he could have had a goal easily tonight. Not particularly inspiring from the Pettersson/Garland/Hoglander line, but they didn't give away any goals and Pettersson ended up setting up a nice empty netter. Lets see what happens with Montreal... they are on fire right now.
  3. Sweet to see the Canucks beat the Laffs... but there was too much running around and collapsing to the net. Demko bailed the team out again... if the team had more discipline in the D-Zone he wouldn't have to do it. Still good to see the PP clicking and the team scoring off the rush. That Leafs team has a powerhouse offense though.... they would be tough to beat if they had a goalie like Demko who could bail them out. But its the old story... Defense or hot Goalkeeping wins Cups... Leafs don't have either. Gonna be close as to whether Vancouver makes the playoffs... I am almost hoping they don't because they still need some picks. But its good to see them building chemistry... just need a couple more defensive pieces.
  4. Kinda late to try moving Halak... he has very little value right now. Back in December/January when he had won a couple games was the time to do it. I'd almost say it would be worthwhile to waive him and send him to Abbotsford, bring Martin up. Maybe we'd get lucky and another team would claim him.
  5. Good to see the Canucks come back and win. But way too many giveaways... the blind pass in our own zone is something this team can't seem to shake. Nearly killed the chances of winning. Glad to see Garland back with Pettersson and Hoglander... this line works. Finally Hoglander gets on the board... he has been so snakebit. And nice to see Podz continue to score... he is working hard every game. Garland is a catalyst, he works with either Pettersson or Miller/Boeser. Right now the odd man out is Chiasson, he is not contributing.
  6. I guess we aren't going to be able to trade Halak... his value just went to zero. Time to waive him... and bring Spencer Martin up. Team can't afford to throw away games just because Halak is the starter.
  7. Petey's shot percentage is almost back up to what it was in previous years... little below 15% now. Confidence... wrist healed... getting his timing back.
  8. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of crybabies... Wow, what a display of immaturity on the part of Calgary at the end. Obviously this game shows that if this Canucks team can get some movement and speed into their PP passing they will score a lot. This is what they used to do the first season EP was on the team... there was a lot more speed in the movement... that has disappeared since then. If they can resurrect that quickness they will start to put goals into the net. Overall I thought this was a Calgary team which was clearly full of themselves and arrogant... thought they just had to show up to win. I am sure they got a rocket from Sutter in the dressing afterwords. Only negative about the game was Demko didn't get his well deserved shutout... but he seemed happy enough. Good for the fans... I think this will clear away a lot of the angst and bad feelings of the last few weeks.
  9. OP is wrong... that start was critical in restoring the team's confidence and getting them ready to listen to BB.
  10. If Boeser was traded to a team which has a good powerplay setup and more fluid offensive system where he is the finisher and he could easily get 35 goals a year. All depends on the team. Every team needs a triggerman and that is what Boeser is. His value will remain high.
  11. Shouldn't read too much into this win... Seattle is a bottom feeder... but good bounce back... also important that it gave a couple players boosts to their confidence... especially Thatcher Demko. Team still showed its bad habits on numerous occasions... their defensive coverage in the zone still consists of a lot of running around. They really need to get this down... this is an organizational process which they should have by heart. Every game is an important one... its good they didn't take the Kraken for granted.
  12. No, he would start in the #5 position... he is not a key element, but he would be an important one. Every team out there which is a serious contender has size on their back end... look at Calgary... they added Nikita Zadorov and he has been a big difference maker... Flames used to be seen as a small weak team... now with the addition of Zadorov, Gudbranson and others they get a lot more respect.
  13. This summer is the same thing as a whole year.... the summer is when everything gets done for the season... trades, signings, etc. They still have time.... if they care.
  14. All you guys who are naysaying Tryamkin... don't you think it is worth a try????? >>>> Yeah, the previous management team scr*wed the pooch, but there is still a chance. They have his rights for another year.
  15. This team plays better with balanced lines... not loading up the #1. Miller should be centering Boeser and Garland as the #1. Horvat should be back centering the #2 line with Pearson and Dickenson in primarily a shutdown role. Pettersson should be centering Podz and Hoglander as #3 line Lammiko centering Motte and Highmore as #4 Dickenson is the weak link... he is the guy who should be traded... he is ok defensively, but is useless offensively. If they can find someone who can score and complement Horvat then a lot of the problems are solved.
  16. They have won close to 65% of their games... that is better than 'Playoff Bubble'. Yes, the team needs roster improvements... no question... but it doesn't need a complete tear down.
  17. All you guys who are expecting this team to make the playoffs are completely forgetting the hole they are in was created by Green. Since Green was fired, as Kelly Hrudey said, they are playing extremely well... but to make up all that deficit is tough. If they had BB from the start of the season, they'd be cruising into the playoffs. What happened with the Blues was a once in 50 years event... to expect it to happen again is stupid. Blues also had a much better fundamental team than the Canucks... they had a Blue Chip Blue Line... best in the league that year.
  18. Horvat is a top six player who can get you 50+ points, win the majority of his faceoffs and play well defensively as a shutdown center... a first rounder would not replace him. He has not played well the last few games, but I think that is a function of the fact BB has shifted his role from shutdown center to #1 Offensive line center... and he is having trouble doing that... he is not a #1 line center. Boudreau tried him with Pettersson's line and now he is trying him with Miller's line... not what Bo is best at. Put him back in his shutdown role with a couple of decent wingers... he works with Pearson and Dickenson. And yes, Bo needs to hit more... but he can be told that... no need to trade him.
