EP is wrong with EP. He has no attack creativity heading into the opponents zone, easily pushes off from the puck or gives it up. He was used to easy points in the SHL and his size and mental game is suffering big time. Reminds me a lot of Nedved...and I don't know how many coaches and strategies and sports shrinks he'll need to get his game to what it should be for his talent.

Could a blockbuster Nedved like deal be good for both the team and player? Love to see something like Petey to:

NYR for Braden Schneider, K'Andre Miller and Ryan Reaves or

WSH for McMichael, Jensen & Protas or

Pitts for Marino, Kapanen & Blueger

    Those are some awful packages.

You're right.  Breath through cases are significantly less with Delta and the other variants compared to Omicron.  Here's the rub for me though...the average person still has a 99% of getting sick and then getting better even with delta.  For me its about risk assessment.  Delta is still not risky enough to warrant all this.  I want to reiterate...if you are in that category of vulnerable person (65+, overweight, diabetic, eat garbage, don't exercise) you should seriously consider getting the vaccine.  Forcing it on friends of mine who are 40 or less, exercise, eat mindfully etc. is unwarranted and I feel like its splitting society.

Thank you for the respectful rebuttal.  I appreciate the dialogue.

    Completely incorrect.

My colleague who was 22 and completely healthy and lived a healthy lifestyle passed away.

There are many other examples of the above. Please inform yourself.

  3. I too am a little, how do you put it, uneasy? with it being too penguin heavy.

However, it's just rumors and it's such an easy link to make with JR working for the pens before. JR was talking about 40 people on the list so it's not surprising a few of them are from the penguins organization.

We will see how things shake up. At the end of the day, hire the best people you can find for each positition.

  4. Ritchie brings nothing but size which he rarely uses effectively. Was fun times over on HF when Leafs fans were super excited about this signing and the media penciling him into the leafs top 6. He's a lazy floater.

Happy it wasn't the Canucks who signed him in the off-season and expecting him to clear waivers.

Let's be real at the same time.   He's got 7 even strength points on the team, while averaging over 18 TOI.   That's less then Garland(the leader),  Miller, Horvat, Pearson, BB, Hoglander, Podz and two defenseman in QHs and Myers. It's reasonable to be worried about him.

There is nobody on the team that would even move the needle on a Draisatl trade,  even if he wasn't in our division.

It's not reasonable at all to be honest. Every single player goes through a slump throughout their career. Ovechkin, Crosby, Matthews, Stamkos, MacKinnon and the list goes on and on and on. You've watched him play, you've seen what he has done before, so why worry? We are witnessing what most likely will end up being the lowest point of his career right now.

Petey is the last name on the trade block. You don't move your 23 year old 1st line center even if that player isn't playing up to par at the moment. He's not a liability and he's not hurting the team. That in itself is a gross miss understanding of asset management in pro sports and an insane risk to take. Nobody in their right mind would even consider it at this point.

I appreciate posting and lurking on these boards but sometimes I am left baffled and with my mouth wide open. This is one of those moments.

Be worried all you want, the kid is a gamer and will turn it around. There is absolutely nothing saying he won't.

So what happens when the new GM comes in, he doesn’t get to pick his assistant?

I could think of a lot of reasons why that could be a benefit to any organization. From my experience the most successful way of working is having specialists and entrusting that they can exceed within their roles when left alone. Equally important having a manager that will let them exceed in those roles and trust them to do so.

Having your idea challenged is not only good in decisions making, it also makes you think harder, question your own ideas, and see things in more perspectives than just your own. All those things lead to better decisions. It might extend the time of the decision but you will be forced to compromise and that usually ends up being the best outcome.

So to answer your question, I think it is necessary for the GM to be in a position (like any manager) where his decisions will be challenged. If you pick your own crew, you probably won't be questioned as often. That's why I don't see it as an issue at all.

It's a good thing being uncomfortable sometimes. That in itself is a challenge that will make any individual grow. I could make connections to diversity, and I guess this is diversity as well.

It's much like putting a hockey team together. You need a sniper, you need a playmaker but you also need a grinder and faceoff man etc. Good players make players around them better. Good managers make other managers and their employees better.

Did i make any sense? haha I hope so! :)

In some organizations, mid-managers will be apart of the hiring process of their new manager so it's not odd to hire a "mid-manager" before the manager is in place. Rather find the best fit for each role as the highest priority.

So he's the new Judd Bracket for amateur scouting and will also oversee pro scouting. ??

So pretty much he's JRs point man on making trades and drafting...

Very important part of the team .. as important as it gets when you think about it.

This guy will be front and center in all trades we make.. Clancey's stamp will be on all player movement for Canucks moving forward..

Key is "pro and amateur STAFF".

I.e he will manage the scouts.

  8. I also reacted to those questions. From the Virtanen investigation to the diversity questions. Just felt out of place.

It's hard to even begin to answer questions regarding diversity because it's such a volatile topic. Whatever you say, it will end up being wrong in some way. Thought Rutherford answered it in an excellent fashion.
