I don't really know the area, in the CBC article it mentions SW of Cultus Lake.... I think that's where I went to a waterslide park about 15 years ago.

Anyway I just thought folks in the area should know in the wake of NS, don't want anything bad happening.

If he's in the Columbia valley that's good news because it's on the other side of the lake and there's only one way in or out. I don't think there's any way to off road out of there either.

Or the fact they have opened up testing to anyone. Or the Mission prison increase. Or the poultry plant increase.  Though I guess we can blame it all on the Easter weekend which was almost 2 weeks ago.

Besides the most important stats are the ones in Hospitals, which has dropped and those who have recovered, which have increased.

Was anyone blaming it all on anything?

    New cases:  71

    Total:  1,795

    VCH: 745

    FH. 747

    VI. 110

    Int. 153
    North. 40

Outbreaks!  3 new ones in ltc facilities (all in Fraser Health)

20 ongoing outbreaks in ltc/assisted living

4 long term outbreaks that were active are now over (FH)

77 cases Mission Correctional. 5 inmates in hospital

28 cases - poultry processing plant

    103 hospitalized

    46 in ICU

    1,079 fully recovered

3 additional deaths :( (all in ltc)

    Total:  90

The new community outbreaks are of concern and mean we have more work to do in breaking chains of transmission.  We can't afford weaknesses in our firewall...it's why we have to keep going with this.  It's not yet time to let the guard down because it will undo all we've done.

So many good analogies out there:  not finishing antibiotics because "you feel better".  The rate of descent has slowed, cut the parachute off.

Also...Dr. Bonnie got teary and emotional at the end while addressing her friends in NS.  She's a wonderful human being.

I wonder if this uptick is a result of people ignoring social distancing guidelines for Easter? I guess we'll know the full result in another week or so?

It makes one wonder if there is a decent politician in the entire state of Florida:

Speaking of "grotesque"......You have to be a special type of scumbag to accuse the media of being "gleeful" about the deaths of thousands of people....<_<

Classic projection. What a tool bag

Found this article to be informative without some of the useless political bashing.

    Partial quote below:

Self Isolation has led many to delve into crackpot theories that go from man-made viruses to spread of infections via 5G cell phone towers. Now, those that are rational are already asking the right questions and seeking legit sources of information…but more and more people are losing it. Feel free to use the information in this story to educate your friends. This pandemic is stressful enough without people confabulating nonsense!

I’ve found that people “listen” more if you have credentials, so while I’m not a fan of throwing letters at people…here are mine. I have a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I did my postdoctoral work at MIT and am now an Associate Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Utah .

He goes on to discuss some of the theories and why they are not supported.

I smoked pot with Johnny Hopkins.

Ever catch a cold more than once in your life?

Cause the common cold is classified as a Coronavirus.

Anyone betting on “herd immunity”, right now, might also want to take a serious look at Malaria drugs. They both have equal amounts of science backing them.

I'm no expert but I was under the impression that you couldn't? I thought that because there is so many different strains of the common cold it would be impossible to create a vaccine but you couldn't get the same virus twice? Unless of course your immune system is compromised and your body isn't able to make up enough antibodies to fight it off the second time. Anyhoo that's what I had learned at some point in my life but things change. All I know is this virus is a doozie and I don't want it.

We all know what is happening in Italy, 53 000 people have been fined for breaking the quarantine in the last 8-9 days.

Its a $222 ticket, I am afraid that we need more draconian measures.

When you are young you think nothing can happen to you as well as your brain has not fully developed yet.

In every war, 18 year old kids are the first ones to die because they have no fear.

Parents have a role in this too

    got a clip?

I tried man, I cant find it. It was about people ignoring social distancing in White Rock. They interviewed 3 teen girls walking together and as you might imagine exactly zero f@%#$ were given. I'll post the link if I can find it.

So, until there is a vaccine, how do we stop it from eventually infecting the masses?  This is where I get confused.

If everyone that is sick gets sick at home it can be treated and contained. Rather than spreading the virus while going on about their business up until they experience symptoms.

If everyone that doesn't get sick, doesn't get sick while at home, rather than running around like a bunch of fools potentially catching and spreading it, then it is contained.

I think our government has done a good job, and people are educated now.  This looks like younger people (less than 60) out enjoying a nice day.  They are at very low risk, right?  They just need to stay away from the high risk people, because they could have the virus and not show symptoms.  Isn’t that what the most important message is?

Is this seriously what you've ascertained after reading this thread for past few days? Jebus man!
