  1. Probably, in the same way that Corrado will be better than Tommernes. Doesn't make Tommernes a bad prospect though.
  2. Hockey IQ is THE most important tool to bring you to the next level. I don't believe that Gaunce will be anything than a 2nd/3rd line tweener, like a Malholtra or a Pahlsson. But is that really so bad? Its like you think it's easy to acquire a shutdown forward like Gaunce is projected to be. We've been a totally different team since Manny's injury, and not in a good way. In many ways, a shutdown C who can stop the opponents' top line is just as important as a top 6 guy. We've been searching for a guy to fit that role for so long, and Brendan could be the heir to that throne. It's fine if he's not a scorer, that doesn't make him useless. He has the work ethic, positioning, face-off ability, rough style of play, and leadership to be an important player in the league one day.
  3. If I wasn't on my phone, I could explain it a lot better, but here's a link: http://www.coppernblue.com/2011/4/4/2082829/nhl-draft-pick-value-first-round Its more common for 1st rounders to be successful, and that's just truth. You can easily pick out all the players drafted late, but it's just not nearly as common as someone in the top 20-30. I think that's all he was trying to say
  4. Except he's shown to excel on LW as well, and there we have Daniel, Higgins, and, uh, yeah that's pretty much it.
  5. Or maybe they traded for Gaunce to be their 2C and add very solid depth down the middle, not for another winger who could play with McDavid.
  6. I've seen a bunch of people praising his game in the O-zone, but how's his defensive game? I hear he's a forward who's been converted to a D, hopefully he has the defensive awareness.
  7. Sure, compare Shinkaruk's numbers to his past years, but don't compare them to Horvat's. Horvat is on a totally stacked London team in the high scoring OHL. Shinkaruk is on a pretty good Medicine Hat team in the defensively oriented WHL. Two totally separate leagues.
  8. Regardless, we got Horvat instead (who at the time seemed just as good as Monahan, look back and find people mocking Calgary for picking him), and moved Schneider as far away as possible. You never want to move a great young player into your division, especially a goalie. Imagine Calgary being able to fix their goaltending situation the year of Kipper's retirement. We've seen how bad EDM has been due to the lack of a steady netminder, we want to ensure that Calgary suffers the same fate for as long as possible.
  9. Did-n't ha-ve th-e cha-nce t-o dra-ft h-im
  10. Didn't we let go of Price's rights by not signing him this off season?
  11. You misread it. It took me a few reads to actually understand what he was saying too Domi has compared Horvat to Toews in the past. I don't think anyone would compare Domi to Toews haha
  12. So will it be a Keith Ballard type buyout or a Alexi Yashin type buyout?
  13. Man, you sure got me good. Real zinger. Penaltykiller - 1, Niloc009 - 0
  14. Just a few of the many dumbs in that post.
  15. Except that nobody seems to think that Horvat will top out as a 3C.
  16. Not taking any chirps seriously, don't worry and my ego is as hard as STHS-RNH's shoulder *cue immediate dislocation*
  17. Definitely posted about it multiple times, and none of the teams who inquired had a player like RNH. 16 points less last year, 2.5M less per year. Not that lopsided guys. Plus RNH has never been injured in STHS, so there goes the glass shoulder comments.
  18. Needed the cap space badly, nobody was willing to give NHL ready good talent, and I'd much rather have an 85 PO prospect than a late 1st next year. May seem like a lopsided deal, but it was the best one out there for my situation. Still a very deadly top 9 group with lots of potential, just have to do a quick retool to keep all the young guns. Versteeg-Richards-Franzen Zetterberg-NugentHopkins-Stalberg Nyquist-O'Reilly-Rakell
  19. I don't think you know what that word means
