  1. Horvat is ready to play in the NHL, so is Gaunce. And Matthias also plays LW which he is actually better at anyway.
  2. Cap Geek is your friend... http://www.capgeek.com/player/833 Matthias IS NOT A RENTAL. I bet both players will play better in Vancouver. Markstrom will certainly inmprove under the tutelage of Rollie.
  3. No he's not. He has another season on top of this one.
  4. I think a better question is why are you choosing to gobble up the lies spoonfed to you by the media? Anyone could have started that rumor and it would be easy for it to catch fire given the current state of the franchise. It doesnt have to be a lie if you heard it from someone else, right? Because none of these people heard it first hand. After Gillis publicly stated he would be listening to offers to anyone not named Sedin, all of the sudden this pops up. Coincidence? Or could a few gms in the league be trying to drive his price down by making it look like he wants out.
  5. You cant possibly be serious? He used the word in its proper context the over reaction is to its use is on those of you who mistook it as a reference to sexual deviancy. As a point of note, rape not only refers to women. The fact that you stated so matter of fact:" When someone you know gets raped.." is more appalling than anything he said..
  6. I dont see Subban being worth a whole lot. There is a plethora of goalie talent out there right now
  7. I think the birth date cut off is actually Sept 15 but you are right he is eligible because of his Junior experience.
  8. I dont see the point of that. Horvat is playing extremely well and this will be his 3rd complete OHL season and (if his numbers keep up) he will have added 30 + points to his previous season totals. Whats the point in keeping him in the OHL? Cassels is on a very similar trajectory in his 3rd year in the O. Shinkaruk will be 20 at the beginning of the 2014/15 AHL season.
  9. Tanev has been the most consistent blue liner we have this season, and he is moved around to help stabilize the other defensemen. He is an excellent skater, has a great first pass, and rarely makes a mistake with the puck. He might not put up huge points, but at this point he's been pretty good their to (9% shot) He is the kind of player that the Edlers, Bieksas, and Garrisons of the world need as their partner, or they would get burned on the regular. Tanev leads the Canucks in blocked shots, and giveaways both by landslides. As for Voynov, the only thing I see that he does consistently better is hit. Voynov 3g pts 22 +/- (0) hts 112 bks 46 gva 45 tka 10 Tanev 5g pts 14 +/- (8) hts 23 bks 112 gva 16 tka 16 And while Voynov may play similar minutes he plays both less time at even strength and a almost 1 minutes less per game on the PK, all while playing 2nd pairing. Tanev > Voynov ..and is easily worth just as much.
  10. Tanev at 4 mill is a good deal, and he has been playing the number 2 spot with Hamuis a lot and has shown he is good enough to do it on a regular basis. Corrado is nowhere near the level of Tanev (yet).
  11. Comets could certainly use him....Gaunce, Horvat, Cassels, Subban, Shinkarik, Fox...they could all be on that team next year.
  12. EmilyMinami, on 11 February 2014 - 08:57 PM, said: "2014 Canucks are NOT the REAL Canucks" Gillis also said last year was not the real Canucks because it was a weird shortened season. I know this season isn't over yet, but can two years really be called an anomaly? Two years (Or techincally a year and three quarters) is quite a sizable sample size. Given how our core players (and role players) remaining from previous seasons, played last season vs this season, they are completely different. Sedins, Burrows, Hansen, Edler, Hamhuis (offensively) are all contributing substantially below last season, (and last season was not a great one for us offensively.) I wonder how this team would be performing if they were contributing even at the same level? Add the return of (uninjured) Kesler for the season, the additions of Santorelli, Richardson, Stanton, the inspired play of Tanev, Higgins playing at a high level. So I did a quick tally. Using last years goal totals converted to the 60 games we have played (even only using games played for injury with Burrows and Edler) and minus them from this years. D Sedin +2 H Sedin +5 Hansen +4 Burrows +8 Garrison +4 Hamhuis +1 Edler +2 This would give us a grand total of +26 in the goal department (not even counting the number of assists these players has which would substantially add to the goal number). That would put us at 7th place in goals for. That would also be easily a 8 win, 16 points at minimum swing in our direction which again would put us in about 7th in the league.

  14. Edler has been injured and has not been playing well under a new system, but over his career he has been very consistent especially from a offensive stand pont (40-50 pt every year since his 2nd year) and you are telling me he was under peforming for 3.25 a year. His new contract only started this season. And you say he has been underperforming for years? Ooooh really? His 5 mill cap hit is 28th amongst defencemen just an FYI. Its well known that Detroit has actually coveted Edler for some time. I wonder why that is? Must be all that under performing..
  15. I think this is the problem unto itself. Yes the Sedins play has dropped off, but I think this is a matter that the whole team is slumping. Kes, Burr, Hansen, Sedins, Edler, Garrison...these are all high level players and most arnt even 30 years old yet. Entire teams dont suddenly degrade to the level this team has simply because they are 'past their prime'. There is a way bigger issue at work here. I would consider utilizing the Sedins more the way AV did until they get their rhythm going, and maybe keep them that way. More offensive zone starts, less minutes, less burning them out on the PK. Maybe its time for them to get some favorable matchups. Injuries have also been a huge story for this team this season. Its not an excuse its just the way it is. I also think a lot of the blame needs to be put on the coaching staff. The current play of the team is not acceptable, and part of it is due to the system they put in place. Gulutzan needs to be fired, and now. He has destroyed this teams powerplay to a point of complete embarrassment. I would actually like to see none of our players go to the Olympics as none of them deserve to at this point. These players should be focused on playing better for the team that is paying them, and for the fans who devote their time to watching this team. Im not giving up on this team, and Im hoping some rest and reflection will help with the teams morale, which is obviously at an all time low. But Im also not holding my breath for a miraculous rejuvination et la LA a few years ago. Dont be surprised if Gillis tries a hail mary by working a big trade that may cost us some prospects to save his job. Should be interesting if anything.
  16. You actually think Edler and Garrison have been better under Torts? uhhhh
  17. Just on the team right now....Kesler, Higgins, Bieksa...not sure why a forward having a bounce back is any different than a derfender, or where you simply using that as a way to (poorly) add relevancy to your statement.
  18. What if I physically lost me sight in a horrible, disfiguring, explosion that left me not only blind? I can still see that a comma would help your sentence drastically though.
  19. He may be a bottom pairing dman (on this team) but he was playing as well as anyone defensively before he went down. He was even in many people conversations for Calder top 10. So, no he is not someone you find on waivers regularily, not even close. He may have been playing sheltered but he was also playing as Bieksas partner, and that in itself is a big responsibility.
  20. 6 mill is steep for a player who has never broken 20g or 60pts ... projection but be looks to break 30g 25a this season and is a PP specialist (9g 7a this season)
  21. Except Raymond is actually a very good defensive forward, making him still useful when not putting up points.
  22. Im going to say that would be incorrect as that would be reflected in their +/- if they were on the ice for that many goals against. Also keep in mind that the Kesler line plays against the high quality competition every game, whereas Booth does not. Booth has not been physical this season at all, and as I mentioned, he doesnt facilitate play in any other way except through offence. When he goes dry, he doesnt have anything else to offer. Torts did allow him to play through his slump, but injuries slowed him down (which many think is due to lack of training in the off season), and his general lackadaisical play didnt help him stay on Torts good side. When Booth is playing with speed, and tenacity, and being physical, he can be a very useful player when not contributing offensively, but there has been little evidence of that this season.
