  1. The other picks.

    3rds 75/89 OA

Luca Pinelli C/W this kids a fire hydrant had a better playoffs than any CHL player not named Bedard. He's a guy we want if he hits. It's out of the park.

Tristian Bertucci LD One of the youngest 2023 prospects has shown incredible promise at both ends total package of size skating IQ ceiling is sky high and his floor is pretty good too. I don't think we can miss with this pick.

Juraj Pekarcik W Speaking of guys I feel very confident have what it takes If you liked Dvorsky at the u18 you've seen what he can do. I won't beat it to death play making PWFs who can skate like him are so valuable.

Alexander Rykov W I like pests. He forces mistakes and has enough skill to complement highly skilled players or play a checking role.

Oskar Asplund LD  I will assume that our scouts have seen him.

    4ths

RHD Carter Sotheran The man behind the man Luca Cagoni who by all right's (Luca) will be long gone in this range. None the less the 6'3 mobile defensive RD has been the perfect partner for the roving Luca. Sotheran is a great package of size, skating, physicality, offensive and defensive acumen. I have him late 2nd Bob doesn't have him top 100 can we get the steal of the 4th?

LHD Kristian Kostadinski large and in charge shutdown D his cieling is probably 3/4 D but what a fantastic 3/4 D he would be.

C/FWD Zeb Forsfjall Big upside here however I kinda feel like he will be a tweener. Too good for the minors not good enough for the top 6. I don't want to be the guy who bets against him though.

RHD Mazden Leslie let's get a Giant in the system. RHD with good size and a great shot it's great for the market and for the team.

    7th

RD Bogdan Konyushkov 20 yo could probably step onto Abby's top pair right now.

LD Tyrell Goldsmith because I don't want none of those hands.

I recall that a lot of teams passed on Podkolzin, due to the Russian thing and him playing in Russia for 2 years etc. Not that he was the best pick in hindsight, but Michkov and Simashev could also drop a bit. It would be very exciting at the possibilities if the Canucks landed Michkov, who could turn out to be the 2nd best player in the Draft.

Gotta trust Allvin and his crew on this. They could have inside info from Millstein, maybe Gonchar knows some things.

Honestly as much as I was high on Boldy Caufield Newhook that year. Still feel Pod was the right pick. I know I know people said stuff about Kass and Virtanen they'll pay dividends 25yo+ and I didn't so much agree on those guys but I really do believe in Pods case he will be an elite middle 6 player not filler.

I was against taking Michkov before, but now I'm thinking if he's there, they gotta take him. I see him going pretty early though.

I'm hoping for Simashev at #11 or one of the Cs

I think so too. Russians are gonna drop. Simashev and Michkov have the highest ceilings of any players who could be available at our pick. We don't really have anything to lose.

  4. Based on B Mac's list. https://www.tsn.ca/intrigue-and-excitement-in-the-year-of-connor-bedard-at-the-nhl-draft-1.1976262

The players who look the most attractive to me are.

    11OA  Need16 Danielson or 19 Simashev

75OA  81 Luca Pinelli or 82 Tristian Bertucci still crossed fingers for 71 Pekarcik

89OA  HM Alexander Rykov there are a bunch of guys close though that 80-96 is fire I would be thrilled with any of them.

    Picks 105, 107, Ian Clarke 119? 171 Mystery Box.

There are some really exciting players still on the board.  3 of the following would make me very happy.

    RHD Carter Sotheran

    LHD Kristian Kostadinski

    C/FWD Zeb Forsfjall

    C/FWD Timur Mukhanov

    LHD Arvid Bergstrom

    RHD Mazden Leslie

    LHD Daniil Karpovich

    C/FWD Tanner Ludke

    Giant Fwd Artyom Kashtanov

Will be interesting to see where the over agers LHD Oskar Asplund and RHD Bogdan Konyushkov go? They have performed well relative to their peers.

weird to go back and see the detroit red wings forum

all their fans absolutely slamming hronek calling him a bottom pair d-man, bad defensively etc etc.

they talk about him like we talk about tyler myers

    hope theyre proven wrong

I mean they would have seen a lot more of him.

Perreault could be a sneaky great pick. Skilled and so smart, although on the smaller side. Never know, if he grows a few more inches and puts on more muscle weight, he could be a very good NHLer.

IMO he's better than Cristal Benson.

Poll among scouts who's the best defenceman in this year's draft. The outcome is that scouts view Reinbacher as the best defenceman by quite a margin. Reinbacher had 18 votes whereas Simashev got "only" 5 votes. I also like simashev, but you have to take the "russian factor" into consideration. Canucks fans have already experienced the Russian factor with the likes of Tryamkin and Kravtsov (not willing to put in the time and effort to make it in the NHL).

    Bild

There is a difference between having poor work ethic and being Russian. Neither of them wanted to put n the work to be in the NHL like a Jake Virtanen content to get by on their natural gifts.

Simashev doesn't strike me as this type of player.

I will defer to you as I'am sure you have watched him far more than me. My comment is just on the highlight video where it's a lot of north south one against all comers. Kind of like Bo used to play. Well that's good to hear he is more of a playmaker. I did note when his teammates were caught up to him he made good passes.

Fair enough It wasn't my intent to be argumentative. I havn't watched the vid to be fair. I can understand how some of these highlight vids can portray players in a less than genuine way.

So, is Danielson another case of big kid in a league of teens?
Yes he has dangles galore, but his head is down for most of them.
That’s a recipe for a short career in the NHL.
Is he going to be able to pull those moves against 6’3 220lbs, who doesn’t let you near the net?

I don’t know these answers, but his highlight videos are awesome.

I invite you to watch some tape on Dvorsky.

Bo Horvat reincarnate ... very similar in how Danielson always attacks single mindedly straight forward to the net, and has that one move to get through defenders. His passes tend to work a little better than Bo's when a teammate is able to get into the play.

Bryce Barker and Owen Beck were fantastic 3C picks last year.

I don't think this is true at all. Danielson has playmaking chopps. Unfortunately that doesn't show up because he's surrounded by plumbers. If he were on WPG or KAM he would be a 100pt player. At this time apples to apples Danielson is in another league than Horvat. I clearly remember Horvats first training camp he was so slow he made Gaunce look like a burner. Hunter Shinkaruk was so much fun to watch playing pond hockey scoring at will with a big smile on his face.

Why is Boeser impossible to move now ? do you believe the Friedman's of the World when they suggest competing clubs like the player, would be ideal if one or two million less caphit but the deal breaker was his remaining term lol.

He produces and is likely not moving because he holds value to the Canucks moving forward. 101st in scoring last year among all forwards.

He produces only because he's being carried. Play him on the 3rd and see how he does.

  13. What would Jake Evans cost to pry out of MTL?

Could we swap dump for dump with PHI? Kevin Hayes would be a lot more useful to us than Brock Boeser.  He only makes 500k more. Bet they'd eat the difference to get out of it a year earlier.

Hartman I'd love to get but we woudn't have the dough to extend him.

Would love to get one of Jack Mcbain or Liam Obrien out of Arizona
