He had the same coach as Adam Fox.

Its on him for not developing his full game.

True. However Rathbone is no Adam Fox, there is a chasim between what the two offer. Rathbone was in need to a more global game for his success

Brock counts too.   Despite folks wanting more.    Brock will for sure get another deal after this one...which will bring him into his 9th season (including one year of ELC getting burned).  Far surpassing an average NHL career.

JB had flaws such as he was a one man band and didn't invite other point of view ( like firing Gillman and Brrackett, admirable quality management ) He did like Weisborough. When it came to the Cap he had difficulty adding  2+2 and getting the right answer

Rathbone will not be in Abby.

He’ll be playing for a different organization in the fall whether through trade or waivers.

This reflects badly IMO on the Harvard coaching. They were deficient in teaching him th full game. Coaches like to win most of all and to heck with the consequences

Yup. Unlike the previous regime, this group has an actual plan. We will have key core players entering their primes and getting big cap allocation, but (this regime) has young elc guys coming into the group to offset those big contracts. Alf hasn’t (honestly) felt this positive about our club since the Gillis years.

Absolutely right! that's my take too. Maybe some on the board can't remember the Gillis era or couldn't stand his arrogance. But other than inuries and suspensions he got this club realy close. I see PA as similar, plus he has a sounding board in JR in a further 2 season he has a lot of FA's coming up and the space to complete the job. When he took the mess over I couldn't see any way to improve, well IMO he's done just that

    Hughes, Willander

    D-Petey, Hronek

That will be a fantastic top four. What’s really good is Hughes and Hronek are both still really young. So they will both be in their primes still when Willander and D-Petey are their partners.

That was the beauty of the Hronek trade, the time line envisaged by management. IMO thy're seeing the team hitting it's prime in 2 more season

  6. I tend to think Suter is the equivalent to Malhotra ( please don't get stuck in the FO trolly track ) there was more to Malhotras game than simply FO's From what I read Suter is a high IQ player that makes opponents his bit*h much like Malhotra did. Malhotra made an impact and fingers crossed so to will Suter

I’m sceptical because Yzerman spent a few years developing him, has tens of millions in cap space so re-signing him wouldn’t be a problem, yet trades him to draft a new project d-man that may replace him in 3-5 years… doesn’t really add up, teams don’t trade young number 2 d-men.

Either he’s completely lost it, and based on his free agency that may be the case, or there’s something not adding up. But I’m glad we have him and hope he puts up a great all around season.

IMO Detroit is not as far along as Vcr in their rebuild. So Yzerman time line is different. He did get a 1st ( and 2nd ) and they suited the future for Wings time wise far better. He drafted ASP ( another RHD ) with the pick so I think this is a case where both teams won. We want players in same time as EP, QH and TD and got that player with Hronek.

  8. "We can confirm that Coyotes Owner, Chairman & Governor Alex Meruelo has executed a Letter of Intent to purchase a parcel of land located in Mesa, Arizona to be the potential site for a sports arena and entertainment district for the Club. The Coyotes remain committed to building the first privately funded sports facility in Arizona history and ensuring the Valley as the Club's permanent home. In addition to this property in Mesa, the Club will continue to explore other potential sites in the East Valley.

  9. I remember a couple f years back a number of would be experts rattle on about Edler was no good, Juolevi was the next Orr. So I'm inclined to judge a player when I've seen hm play a couple of games and judge accordingly. I did see Hronek play  couple of games and he has the IQ tobe a good D'man and his age fits in with the other quality players on the roster.

As to Myers IMO it's his salary that's the problem moe than his game. I'm almost certain he will resign with another club at the end of his current contract, so teams will want him. It will be interesting to judge his demand by the contract he will get. So for those Edler haters and juoelvi lovers If the contract was OK I would mind seeing him back in Vcr. Before  get large protests I'll say Ouch in advance :)

I accidentally came across this article when reading about another Canuck prospect.  The team sure

hasn't given up on this kid, as it appears that he has been working hard on improving his skills.

The new management of the Canucks deserve credit for putting together an impressive team of

trainers for their prospects.  If there's any chance that a young player might reach the NHL one day,

these trainers will help him reach his goal.  If he has the character and work ethic, his odds are much

    improved.

You can work on skills, skating etc but you can't coach size. Many tall/big players need extra time to grow into  their body

Yeah he’s basically snookered into a one year show me deal anywhere he goes.

I’m thinking he doesn’t sign until the season starts so it’ll be pro-rated anyways, maybe with LTIR money.

Does Hockey Canada cover the injury ?

And quite possibly,  as exciting to watch as Bure was.

I like his style a lot. But he's no Bure who so frequently was a one man wrecking crew and good at it. What surprises me is the lack of comments about his signing. To me he's the ready made equivalent to a to 5 draft pick who management signed for free. That rarely happens and they should have received more praise for pulling this coup off

  13. To me management has a plan. No matter who they drafted as a D would not be playing within the period of time they envisaged. They wanted a young RHD now and he was the best option. I think they're right, his best years will coincide with the other ie EP, QH, etc. I was sort of surprised Detroit was will to move him. It seems to point out Detroits push will belater than Vcr.I think Vcr is looking for sustianed  success begining this coming season and onwards.Atleast i hope so, Im a STH and need to put aside the last few years of poor quality hockey. We will not get a Bobby Orr type D'man but from what I watched he plays a relatively error free game

And fists the size of watermelons, and a head as impervious to damage as Tie Domi. Domi was a great name for that enormous head.

In the Pacific Coloseum we sat next to one of the coaches families, in  fact it turned out they lived close by and we became pretty good friend. Any way I was told when TO visted some one took Domi's helmut and placed on top of the those large ball like grabage cans ( ex Expo garbage cans ) he was not best pleased

You’re forgetting Kuzmenko is an RH…who plays LW. I’m specifically talking about RH’s at RW. The team doesn’t have that, other than Boeser and Garland. Nor does it have it down the middle. You really can’t add Karlsson nor Studnicka to that mix if you’re expecting them to be a playoff team this upcoming season. There’s no balance on this roster amongst the Forwards, is my point, and I think it will continue to be a potential hindrance going forward if it isn’t addressed.

To make the most of your left wingers it helps if you have  a RH centre, ie passing mostly on his fore hand

Nice to see the work Benning did with our scouts paying off, it was so bad before Benning now we actually see good prospects in our pool B)

Most of the quality prospects came post JB. Allvin has added some quality

  17. Funny enough IMO Wollanin may have some skill is beyond argument but he's not high  end enough to take the gambles he does. Who does IMO fit what is required is Brisebois. He plays D and often on the PK. He's not flashy simply does his asigned job and does it well Can Woo be the same person with added agression is the question. Is Woo better than Burroughs I doubt it. Burroughs got an extra $300K in SJ, but you newwhat you were getting. W, B W are gambles
