Bear inability to move that puck out is the reason for that chaos... its hard to move pucks in the NHL under pressure sure but that's why not everyone makes 4 mill as a D sometimes it's fine to have 1 mill defensmen too

Maybe needs a solid LHD partner to help create space. But, not another puck-moving Defenceman.

“Meaningless game”! Now that’s a stupid comment. Clearly a non athlete saying something this dumb. The guys want to win, and that includes the coaches. This guy is a friggin’ moron.

I also can’t stand fans and media whining about non-entertaining games. It’s really not the responsibility of coaches and players to ensure that we’re properly entertained whilst they’re (hopefully) out there playing with winning first and foremost on their collective brain.

Finally deserves a shot and hope he succeeds. I was thinking/hoping he'd be on our bottom pairing all of this season but he really stunk to start the year, and he hasn't been as great in the AHL as before.

Honestly this is it for Rathbone, if he doesn't do well I'd be all for trading him for a pick/young player in the off-season. I'm all for taking out time and waiting but his development has taken a step back this year.

I don’t think he “deserves a shot” any more than Jordan Subban did. Maybe he’s just not good enough for the NHL. Or, at the very least, doesn’t factor into the current makeup of the team going forward.

Jack Rathbone might do better then in the past. He must know these opportunities will not happen often and it's up to him to impress Rick Tocchet and the

    parent team.

Even if he does, do you really see him being part of the top-6 going forward? Specifically, knowing who’s already going to be competing for roster spots at LHD in training camp next season? The team already has a LHD who plays a similar game. And, there’s at least 2 RHD’s who also are more offence-minded.

Exactly where does he fit in with the Vancouver Canucks beyond this season? I don’t think he does.

I could see Pearson come back and be a decent contributer to our bottom-6, he's the perfect Tocchet-type player. He'd probably be overpaid at 3M and probably won't come back flying, but I'd like to give the poor guy a shot. If the injury is too much though then call it a career.

There’s no shortage of bottom-6 younger LH’s to do what Pearson does.

I don’t know if it’s the goal necessarily. I’ve never heard this goal offered by anyone associated with the team. I’m am inclined to believe, sadly, that mediocrity is the result, at least for now.

You’re forgetting that this team will look different from training camp and opening night next season than it does now. Nothing wrong with coaches and management getting a look at who they think they will want to keep going forward. You really believe Tocchet, Allvin and Rutherford are going to settle for mediocrity? I don’t know about “major surgery”, but, there’s still plenty of holes left to fill and moves to be made before this team is going to be a legitimate playoff contender. But, by no means should anyone expect mediocrity to rule the day anymore. I think they’ve graduated from being mediocre for the better part of the last decade to being “not quite good enough yet.” Keyword: “yet.” I’m genuinely hyped for and looking forward to the next season, rather than being bummed about it as usual under Benning.

How is Crypto as an arena? Always wanted to go to a game there

Just keep in mind there are 3 levels of suites separating the lower and upper bowls. Hopefully you’re not 6ft tall or more, either. Otherwise, you might have a legroom issue. Particularly in the upper bowl. Public transport is a breeze from most anywhere in the area (Los Angeles city and County are HUGE), including 2 rail lines that stop 1 block over from the arena on Figueroa. Great atmosphere inside and outside in the plaza. Lots of options within walking distance if you’re the type that likes to “get loose” or grab a bite after the game.

I don't think we have much choice in having to trade Myers unless we can clear cap another way.  Big RD's with Cap for one year but low real dollars do have some value.  We may get a pick out of it too without having to retain (but could if its minimal).  What I don't want is to sign an aging FA RD for term and $$.  The way I see it, we will be looking a 3 from the crop of Schenn, Bear, Livingston, Burroughs, Juulsen at least for next year.

On the left side, we have Quinn.  I think Wolanin has earned a spot on the 3rd pair.  OEL will be difficult to Buy out (only used as a last resort) so mgmt will probably want to see if we can get him back to a serviceable D.

Would YOU trade for Tyler Myers if you were an NHL GM? He’s got to be a buyout candidate. It’s the only way, other than packaging him with the plethora of LH’s this team has and can afford to part with. This team does not currently have a legitimate RHD to pair with Hughes. Specifically, not one who wouldn’t be a head-scratcher or question mark on the top pairing from the right side. That has to be addressed this summer. The rest of the group is really missing only 1 piece in the form of an Edler/Öhlund-type for Hronek.
There’s no shortage of in-house LHD candidates for the 3rd pairing with Bear, and I think it’s a deeper corp/core with him on the 3rd rather than 2nd line.

Coyotes play a decent game have to give them credit for last night.

    maybe Studnicka

Exactly what does he bring, though? As lacking as the Canucks are in RH’s, he’s got size, but not physicality. He can play the C, but, is he really a playmaker? He’s certainly not a scorer, either. Where does he slot-in with this group going forward?

Raty is way better defensively than Karlsson. But management might prefer Raty works on his offensive game in the minors for another year. I think we bring in a 3C from the free agent market. It will be an older guy too. Like what Beagle was. But this management will only go a two year deal at most.

    Brandon Sutter’s looking to make a comeback…

Miller listening to our complaints and acting.

You really believe J.T. Miller gives 3 you-know-whats about what his CDC and SN650 detractors say? Particularly, to the point where he’s making an effort to change their collective mind? I sure hope he’s not as Kevin-Durant-sensitive as that, and I’d rather like to believe if he’s listening to anyone enough to change his game for the better, it’s Tocchet and his staff.

All day yesterday 650 was preaching how much better the senators were than us. Like it wasnt even close, they were waaaaay further ahead.

SN650 is seriously difficult to stomach during the day M-F and between periods on game days. Don’t know about anyone else, but, I sure do miss the Team1040 and King of Floors hockey.

As a longtime Canucks fan I’m going to have to disagree with you there.

You know what I mean, hopefully. To paraphrase Justin Fields, fans “don’t put in the work.” Sure, we have the power to withhold our money, but, realistically, that won’t happen in the Vancouver market. Full disclosure: although I’ve rocked with the Canucks since the early ‘90’s, I’m actually down the road in Seattle, and haven’t been to a Canuck home game since 2009.
Whilst I’m still not convinced Vancouver is at the level of Montreal or Toronto as a Canadian market, fans are still incredibly passionate for the home side, and a boycott or something similar in an effort to “send a message” or whatever, as was alluded to a few pages ago, is not going to happen. Whomever decides to give up their season tickets because the team obviously isn’t tanking, the way this team really does seem to be putting pieces together for an eventual upward trajectory, there will be someone else ready to take them.
But, back to “suffering”. Ours is purely emotional, and in no way comparable to what those actually employed by the organization feel.

Well I was pretty disappointed when they decided to not show up for most of the year and this has been a yearly occurrence. They have played like crap at the beginning of each of the last few years. What did they have in mind then? The summer?

Maybe they played like crap because - aside from the instability of the overall franchise - they (players and coaches) really just weren’t that good?
I think both are better now, as is the management end.
