Hey Jim, how did the meeting go with Aquilini today?

It went fine ty, seems like most fans don't like waiting, they'd rather go back to a butter soft team that wins all season then falls out in the first round but fans seem to love that.  ;)

If I'm not an assuming moron then I don't immediately associate that statement specifically with the JT Miller trade. That's what you did. End of story.

You know the JT Miller trade wasn't the only trade where Benning's traded picks right? Are you clueless or something?

You literally got triggered because I made a GENERAL statement:

"Not to mention, being responsible for scouting he is experienced in the draft and develop method while keeping draft picks"

and linked it specifically with the JT Miller trade.

You're literally framing it as if the JT Miller trade was the only trade Benning made that involved picks. So you ask me how do I see it any other way? I can see it in a multitude of other ways because he's MADE OTHER TRADES. It's not that difficult.

As I said in my previous post, I was talking about his moves in general. In. General. Meaning not this or that. This is something I already said in my previous post, and if you for some reason still don't understand, then I can't help you buddy.

Learn to how to comprehend things and take some time to think instead of being triggered and immediately assuming I'm talking about the Miller trade. dude.

    Have a good day.

it wasn't just that one and clearly from what the whole point of what I was saying was why would you even put it there in the first place because I comprehend the trades that everyone was slamming about JB for some of the trades that never showed results EXCEPT what would be shown in the future and there was only a certain numbers of players who would come here and mentor our young guys and put aside Stanley cup visions with a young team that needed grit too (we desperately needed) and leadership but everyone just jumped on it and screamed blue murder because transitioning from a slow retool to a full on build as all the old players from 2011 came off the books so JB at least had a vision for a team that would be fast, tough, and skilled.

We're so close to being there but COVID and the cap freeze screwed the 2 year projection and so what? it happened and blaming more b.s. on a GM for everything that's happened is crazy, of course he wasn't perfect but he did a lot better than a lot of people give him credit for under the circumstances but that's easily forgotten. I actually agreed with a bit of what you said BUT when I read about that line, I asked you but it doesn't even matter since you wrote the whole thing instead of pointing out how we came to the point where we are now that's not finished YET! <====

tell me how i contradicted myself when i never specifically pointed out the miller trade being a "bad" Benning move. In fact, was all for it.

Not every move involving draft picks that Benning made resulted in a "negative" transaction. The JT Miller deal being a prime example. However, it's been a pretty common complaint that Benning does add those unnecessary sweetener picks in some of the moves that he makes.

So yes, you are a moron. Cut it with the assumptions.

dude.. tell me what YOU would say if it was you reading this statement in what you said and that's why I asked if you were one of the people who went on the JT Miller trade? and YOU know where that was leading.. you obviously said your following everything and the fire JB has gotten around picks so with that said why do you think I asked that in the first place? how would you see it any other way?

ok so why would you agree with it then? that's the contradiction, if you really  didn't have a problem then you'd be fine with it but your not... obviously..

People keep acting like we can just hire whoever when in reality nobody with half a brain has any interest in working for a terrible ownership group…. This organization is toast until something changes up top

andddd that's the same as  a lot of players in the NHL wouldn't want to play here because of the fans, first time I realized it was JR but with the riots, fire Benning campaign that was so embarrassing are a couple of reasons but I wouldn't either and the media is even worse, bush league at best...

are you one of the fools happy with where this team is at right now?

Never once did I condemn Benning for the Miller trade.

I'm not going to point out every single good/bad move GMJB has done.

The overall consensus of opinion from Canuck fans is that we need a change that starts from the top. I also happen to agree with that.

    But yeah, keep assuming moron.

are you on something? you just contradicted yourself.. and your calling me a moron? genius...

I know there has been a lot of talk on what coaching candidates should/might potentially replace Travis Green if he were let go, but I haven't seen much on any potential GM candidates who could be a good replacement for Benning.

First off IMO, like the consensus at the moment, the problem begins with Benning as he is the one who is hiring these groups of coaches and hasn't really made progress for nearly 8 years now.

Sure. Let's give credit where credit is due, he brought in this new crop of young players as our core (probably the best drafting run in the history of this team).

However, this was supposed to be the year where the team took a step forward after that disastrous covid, north division season.

Last year was somewhat tolerated as a write-off... which I still don't understand why, there shouldn't be any "write-off" seasons especially when you're trying to win. The owners have for some reason given Jim a longer leash than most owners would with their GM's. Maybe to save money because of covid? Idk.

Last season was this team and it's fans suffering because of Benning's FA decisions. He didn't think for the long-term and pretty spontaneous with his signings. That was unacceptable as it was and this season is just a continuation of the team suffering because of both the owner and managment's lack of foresight. There are no more excuses this year. It's time for Benning to face the consequences and be moved on from.

One candidate that I have in mind is the current AGM for the Avalanche in Chris MacFarland.

He's been pursued by both the New Jersey Devils and the Arizona Coyotes when their GM positions were vacant and I think he's still looking for a step up from his AGM position.

20 years of experience, 14 with CBJ and now 6 with COL. He's apparently Sakic's right hand man and works all matters regarding trade and cap management.

Not to mention, being responsible for scouting he is experienced in the draft and develop method while keeping draft picks.

He helped build Colorado into the powerhouse team it is today. The mold that the AV's are in, is a dynamic team. MacFarland was a big contributor to that.

    Any thoughts? Other Candidates?

keeping draft picks? Are you one of the fools who didn't like the JT Miller trade?

In all seriousness, it boggles my mind how many people still defend Benning and continue to make excuses for him. Then the same people are surprised when we miss the playoffs despite that being one of the only things Benning has shown he's consistently good at. Literally it's been bleed assets, miss the playoffs, Benning coming out and saying "we are 2 years away", rinse and repeat.

who is making excuses for him, he did a great job bringing in players, now it's on them and the coaching, getting tired of this bullshi_ about blaming JB for what is on the players and coaching staff now.

I think after tonights Atomic Bomb drop in Colorado - you'll hopefully accept a bit of what I and most others have been saying - that this team is doomed until Green is gone (for starters).   This team is a complete - hopeless mess right now and no sign of anything changing and Suter and Mutte won't save the day for us!    Face it - this team needs major surgery at the helm!

Not true, they needed this a$$kicking to wake up actually and I almost wish it'd happened before now. Sutter and Motte are our best PK and it surely does not help with others subbing in for them. Now if it continues for awhile then yeah it's on TG for not getting on them or whatever he did like he did in the playoffs against Vegas etc...  I'm not happy about us having to get motivated by getting our asses handed to us but at this point, whatever works.

With over 1/10th of our games already in the books, we've already descended into the bowels of the league standings at 28th (likely 29th by tonight), which is something we don't normally see until seasons end - every year.

What do you believe has caused such a rapid descent into the bottom of the basement so early on this season, rather than in past years where we slowly descend there, after all the changes in the off-season, touted by JB as being "the beginning of a new era" and what do you think can be done to reverse this before the season is completely lost again?

ok do you bother thinking this situation out to begin with? Seriously, the other times we fell was because our 2 top dmen couldn't stay healthy. With the exception of a stacked team like Tampa, any other team would have crashed and burned as well. this is why I was super happy Eddie and Tan are gone, great players in their prime but their prime is long gone.

Next, new players learning our systems and our players which hardly happens overnight.

Next, I had to laugh at the fools bitching about our PK with Sutter and Motte not in the line-up, like DUH!

Next, Petey wasn't there for the pre-season, nor Hughes, nor Hamonic.

I seriously don't know what people expect from starting off like that would look like for any team let alone ours at the tail end of a rebuild..

Clean house as in management and coaches. I agree it was Benning's best offseason but a leash can only stay on for so long. Just feels like the organization needs a breath of fresh air.

why keep a team at all then? we do badly for a little while like all teams do especially missing players and having new ones come in and then do it over and over and again? heck we might have a cup by 2089.. maybe but if not we can always tear it down again right?

I'm expecting Podz to have more than the 13 min of ice time he received against Anaheim on Tuesday.

    The guy is getting there.

Well from what came out of TG's mouth in a interview, he said something along the lines of screwing it up by not easing him in. I sort of agree BUT the transition period is all but over, now if TG would only tell him to pin his ears back and go for it. However if he takes Horvat's route to learn to play consistent D first then that's ok too. I'm obviously a big fan of his and I don't care too much AS LONG as he makes it and stays in his trajectory, after that, it's entirely up to him. (fingers crossed)

OT- I willing to wager real money (e.g.., US currency rather than Canadian currency lol) that Canadians know more about US history than their own (Canadian) history.  And yes, I include myself in that category.

Did you skip history class like everyone else you speak of? My dad was big and mean so skipping was not an option, proof? I still remember there was a upper and lower Canada.

However as much as I love Canada, too bad we have such idiots running the country because we have no one else to vote for except the 3 useless political parties we've always had...

AZ for me.  First one - nothing.  Second one, a little big of reactionary stuff but nothing signficant.

I've been tested 4 times now (my own doing).  One swab up the nose (enough for me!) and 3 gargle tests.

I agree completely about social distancing.  There used to be some consideration given to people's personal space but that was really lost pre-Covid.   Man...wonder what'll happen to mosh pits?

One thing that really ticks me off (happened just the other day WITH COVID here).  I'm picking produce from a small section and someone reaches in right over my shoulder to start getting theirs.  Like wait a minute?  I'm almost done then it's your turn?  The mother of all elbows....

    Is that you Pavel?  ;)
