  1. So it seems there’s “insider” chatter that the canucks would use their pick as trade bait. I would not be surprised to see calgary go into desperation mode to start making changes. They have a lot of attractive pieces for teams in all stages. I think the canucks could pry their best dman To Calgary 11th, Beauvillier (4.3 million) To Vancouver Andersson, 2023 second (4.5 million) I would prefer Garland in over Beauvillier but its a bargaining chip for Calgary to have an opportunity next off season to clear cap next off season or even a player they can inflate and trade at the deadline Calgary does this after a very disappointing season with an aging forward group looking to get prospects coming up as fast as possible Vancouver does this to solidify the d and have one of the better transitional d corps in the league Hughes - Andersson OEL - Hronek Deal would be made on draft day if the player canucks want isnt there but the player the flames want is
  2. You might want to adjust your list to dmen taken after 14th, including a few first overalls and a hand-full of top 10 picks weakens your point Im not disagreeing that there are players in that range who will pan out Its about adding the pieces now to get the core to the playoffs, not waiting 3-5 years for players to develop
  3. Of course they can develop depth but for what core? by the time the depth is ready to step up there might not be a core if the team is still struggling
  4. I wouldnt say the others are problematic, they are redundant myers and boesers contracts expire after next year beuvillier garland and boeser is just redundant. 1 definitely needs to go but 2 gone would be nice Millers contract is looking better than Horvats and I dont see his game being overly age related.
  5. What would a 17th overall pick get us? My guess is not a top talent and more likely a secondary type player in the likes of Myers, Garland, Boeser, Beauvillier, that wouldnt be ready for a few years. So why not get that player now? I havent seen Hronek play much at all but what I did notice was that he knew what he was going to do with the puck once it was on his stick and this was very calming for the play. He has poise I get the whole stock the prospects but the team has a good core with only 1 troublesome contract in OEL. And even then he hasnt played for the canucks when they had a good defensive system. next year will be interesting to see how he performs. If the canucks arent rebuilding they need to nake these kinds of trades
  6. I think what he is saying is that he will be picked up by the coyotes
  7. This to me just tells me it was handled poorly Ive separated my shoulder sprained ankles and all kinds of things. It all healed just fine, but I had half a year off sports with all my injuries soft tissue injuries are weird. They can feel fine while movements are under control but once there is unexpected stress they really show you that it takes quite some time to rehab them back to health my separated should was 8 months before I didnt have unexpected pain. However i could use it in under a week with mild pain and sudden sharp pain from over stressing my ankle took 10 months before I was fully confident that it was better but i could walk after a week in crutches When you look at the dates it tells me that he did feel fine but the reality is that once there was stress on the tissue there was a setback
  8. It also kinda shows that depth is more important than star power both seattle and vegas have great depth
  9. Now that you mention that i remember that but i swear i heard one of the new rules being that its 1 in 5 today
  10. I would think Bieksa would expose any trickery, likely bad editing
  11. Cant win more than once in a 5 year span
  12. im not advocating for small defensemen I really like guys like Mitchell, Hammer, Bieksa, Larsson, Chara, Pronger, Stevens. Guys that use their bodies to separate the puck from the player It seems that there are too many d whole rely on active sticks as opposed to just getting in the way of the player. when you have a good d pairing that do this you will see that they wait to seperate the player from the puck when the partner is close enough to gather up the loose puck. Its a mix that is needed really
  13. Structuring a team around 1 player or even 1 team is not a recipe for success, see 2012 Canucks when facing game changing players like mcdavid its more important to just try to limit their chances and except they will still score and then focus on the rest of the team. LA really focused on him and it just created more opportunity for leon and all the oilers offence was run through Leon
  14. This exactly van doesnt have the same luxury of time that detroit has have to look at the value of shoring up the d does in the next few years on top of the singular calue the player has
  15. People acting like Bo lost the series credit where credit is due, Carolina is an incredibly well coached and structured team
  16. Tanev, free agent pick up
  17. This again?? its like someone offering you a million dollars for a lotto ticket that guarantees 100,000 but could be 1.5 million why is it so hard to see that the trade was the right move?
  18. JT seems like the kind of player that needs strong leadership good structure and a coach that is not afraid to “discipline” players who get out of line Tochett seems like he is creating much better structure while also leaving room for more player creativity another part of Tochett is he’s emphasizing effort. As more players elevate their effort level JTs frustration levels levels/his need to do it all also seems to relax allowing JT to focus on JT
  19. No we got fleeced! Am I doing this right?
  20. This would make them serious contenders for years rod the bod might also be exactly what Miller needs to fully realize his potential
  21. The real question is can we get more out of a 5 million dollar player Boudreaus style has never favoured defense numbers, hopefully Gonchar and Foote can come up with a system that can put the D in a position to succeed
