I watch to see the players do their thing. Gillis isn't on the ice and as far as I'm concerned, isn't part of the team. He's a suit who's actions/lack of action and treatment of players (Manny, CoHo, Lu, Cory) is at least part of the reason this team has no passion and identity.

Linden would bring a lot to the position , hockey knowledge, leadership and respectability but I'm not sure he would want it. For those saying he couldn't do the job...he's a successful businessman very well connected and what he doesn't know, he can bring people to the table who do. It's the final decision based on that input where he would be great. Besides, Stevie Y seems to be doing pretty well as a GM and he's just an ex-player. Linden is smart and classy and this organization needs that in the worst way. Maybe FA could offer him the GM or Player Development position with an option to buy a piece of the team?

No. I would not take that deal and never said I would. Besides no-one knows if that was what was offered. Kesler was the #1 target for a trade at the deadline and should have garnered serious assets coming back. He may have as much value at the draft even with one less playoff run under his current contract. I hope so. If not, I hope management finds a way to acquire assets that allow us to build around him. Personally, I think Kesler would do more to help this team bring along the youngsters in a re-tool than the twins. Unfortunately, unless they retire to Sweden, not much chance of that happening. As for tonight...I'm looking forward to seeing Matthias again - thought he looked very good in his first game. Also to Jensen...really pulling for the kid to show his stuff and give us a taste of what we may have to look forward to next year. Hope Eddie bounces back, though I certainly don't put the loss on his shoulders.

None yet...Is that better? I see too many similarities to the Lu fiasco in how the Kesler situation is being handled and while there may be more suitors later, his value for a contender this year is gone. It could reduce his value going forward. Maybe not. I'm also not convinced Gillis can do any better with an asset like Kesler than he did with Schneider or Lu. I live to be proven wrong.

So true. A team that challenged for the cup 3 years ago that has fallen to this level isn't the result of one or two things. It isn't about injuries etc. It is the culmination of numerous decisions regarding the make-up of the team, how people are treated, the letting go of one coach and who was hired to replace them etc. What we are seeing on the ice is the direct result of how MG has managed this team.

He's also the guy who traded Lu and Schneider for Markstrom, Matthias and Horvat.
