gillis doesn't know what hes doing.. by trading lu, he essentially said he was giving up on this terrible year and going the rebuild route. its become obvious to everyone and their mothers this team is in dire need of a shakeup.. yet, Gillis could not pull anything off at a time where sellers usually get maximum value. looks like he hasn't learned his lesson from the Schneider/luo debacle.

better be a firesale by tomorrow. this sad group of players do not care about anything but cashing their fat cheques. I am not looking forward to another 4 years of sedinery

lu lovers with their sense of entitlement rating lu above the team... (apparently this attitude extends to lu judging by his response) this Is a team game, All players have to contribute to the teams success.. if you get outplayed in your position by a teammate, and he gives the team a better chance to win... then he plays over you. Simple as that. if lu doesn't like that, He should leave. Tired of his/his fanboys whining. Lack earned that start on the back of spectacular play, and outplaying Lu up to that point. Torts didn't start lack because he's a "big meanie" who wants to act like a jerk

I voted no. I think his start was a fluke and he was starting to slow down before his injury. If you look at his previous stints, he is a streaky player. There was a stretch with florida when he was really playing well before disappearing. With the injury, and the removal of of threat to his hockey career (which is a HUGE motivator) I don't see him returning as the same player.. and knowing Gillis, im actually terrified he might give him a 3 year/ 6-7 million dollar NTC type contract. all things considered, I don't want him back for anything more then 1 year/1m - 1.5 m

pffft... we were closer in 94! Why hasn't mg offered Bure a 5 year NTC contract yet??

By that same logic,You could ask what linden has done?? im not crapting on linden. He's one of my favorite players ever.. but I detach emotions when It comes to improving this team.. The benefit of losing linden for 3 ineffective years~ of his career were absolutely MASSIVE and undeniable. keeping on to players because of emotional attachments Is the best way to turn into Calgary.. this game is about performance. period.

how exactly was the linden trade shameful besides emotional/sentimental reasons... Linden was traded right before his decline, And got us a massive return that we still reap the benefits of till this day.. emotional canuck fans need to get over themselves and their obsessions with certain players that goes against any factual logic.

as much as keenan is hated by everyone.. he did more to move this franchise forward In 1 ballsy trade then MG has his entire tenure here: Linden right before his decline for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe (which turned into a Sedin) And Jarko Rutuu (pick) and no a rebuild is not around the corner until MG leaves.. He wont make any significant moves and has made clear his loyalty to declining stale players coasting thru their NTC contracts.

people always assume struggling players are injured... If he's injured, He should join his brother and not go to Sochi. He cannot go to the Olympics and use the phantom injury excuse for his piss poor play

Here is something else for people ponder when trying to determine where the problem lies: Players overperforming their contract: Tanev Santorelli Kassian Richardson Stanton Sestito Lack Players Underperforming their contracts: Sedins Booth Burrows Edler Hansen Garrison Players somewhat pulling their contract weights Kesler Higgins Hamhuis Bieksa Any coincidence the deadweights /mildly acceptable bunch are sitting on long term contracts/ mostly old core NTC guys?? while our over performers are guys on short term deals/ or generally fighting for their hockey lives?? ponder that, and you will see where the problem lies (and its NOT Torts)

since that boston game we won (the year after the SCF loss) This team has been in a major decline. Especialy mentally. They just look and play like they are not intrested. couple that with the physical declines of the sedins/burrows and your in big trouble. These are professional hockey players making millions of dollars to perform. playing in the NHL is an absolute privilege. If they don't want to work hard and earn their paycheques,its time to move them ASAP (regardless of NTCs) Its not that this team Is losing.. It just doesn't look like they are trying anymore. Calgary is an absolutely AWFUL team from top to bottom. but they bring It every singe night, and play hard. These core of players haven't played hard in 3 years. AV couldn't remedy that, Torts apparently cant, and a new coach will not succeed either. Gillis not only dished out these long term cushy NTC contracts, but Is determined to stay loyal to them. The problem starts with him, Get rid of him, and a new GM with no baggage can clean house
