I know this is a completely trodden point that is beaten like a dead horse, but I literally can’t believe it.

The Canucks are the only Canadian team left in the playoffs in Canada’s sport hockey, it is the morning after they won to tie their series...

And on both TSN and Sportsnet’s front page there is not a single article about the Canucks win last night...not even a mention.  I actually couldn’t believe my eyes like maybe the second or third article...but there are &^@#ing 10+ articles on the front page of both those sites and not one &^@#ing article is about the Canucks.

Absolutely UN &^@#ing believable.  Give us our &^@#ing Sports Page back.

do people still go to the sports websites to get their news? Maybe I just haven't done that for ages myself but I prefer either here, reddit, and twitter and I think there was a lot of chatter on there about the team. But also my expectations are just really low after how we've been treated in 2011 so...

I was thinking more of down the road.

Most, if not all of those guys are going to want term. What happens when we have to re-up Petey and Hughes? That's what concerns me. I worry about painting ourselves into a corner....

I think you can afford to give some guys term. Tanev for example is turning 31 - When I think term on him I don't want to see anything over 3, 4 years. Toffoli at 28 I can see going longER in term to keep the AAV at a more manageable and then tradable value. Petey and Hughes are going to get paid no matter what. And before that happens we will see Edler, Loui, and others having to either be re-signed or move on.

  3. Toffoli has to be priority 2 or at best 1B. These playoffs have just reinforced how important Markstrom is to the team and we need him to get that contract signed ASAP.

As for the cap and Toffoli, personally I do think we can re-sign him but that all comes down to how willing the team is to part with some players. I don't think he's going to get much more than 5.25 from us and if he has an offer higher, I would let him go. We don't want to put ourselves into the situation that Tampa found itself in last year. Being a good team in a cap world, especially a flat cap world now, means some players need to be let go but let's try and give ourselves the best shot we can to excel when we have two of our best guys on their ELC's or second contracts.

  4. Leivo is one player that serves as an enigma to me personally. I will be very honest. I don't like him. I see that he brings value to the team but I hated seeing him in the Top 6 to start the year. Every time I would watch him I would see the puck die on his stick. There were so many times he'd make the wrong pass resulting in a turnover, shoot it at the net with no traffic ending sustained pressure etc.

So I want to ask - maybe I have just been biased by a few bad games and look for holes everytime I watch him play - what do you guys think his role would be on the roster next year (if Toffoli is re-signed and even if he isn't) and at what kind of cap hit? I think he's a good 3RW for us, but that means we're playing either Guadette at C or playing Sutter on the 4th line. Players like Motte, Virtanen and maybe Roussel may be out if that's the case?

To those east of the Rockies and south of the 49th parallel

We like our 7:30 PST start time, we don't care if it is too late for you!

    Canada's team. ya right, F.U.

We will never forget the way we were treated in 2011!

    Canucks in 6

I'm west of the Rockies AND north of the 49th... I love a bit early start times just because I have classes that start at 6am :(

Myers is not a top pairing d-man even with Edler.  If the Canucks have to use him as one, Markstrom can't have a slow first half start again and Markstrom would need to continue his second half form right out of the gate if the Canucks want a shot at the playoffs.

But there are no top pairing D men there. It would have to follow the New Jersey model of Having a 2a) 2b) 2c) pairings. Except I don’t think we have a 2C pair as of this moment.

For hitting I think working the shoulders is needed.  Kenin's shoulders gave out on him and he left the league..  Hansen got a shoulder injury a few years back and never quite hit as much or as hard.

JV already has a bad shoulder
