  1. I want Kotkaniemi or Wahlstrom. Sorry if you feel offended, I don't mean just you. I have also wanted Glass over Pettersson. But having jumped to many conclusions in the past in this forum, I retrained myself from saying something too harsh. Your post represents what we have all been doing at some point in the past. And it's kind of funny.
  2. Pettersson let him win on purpose. I bet EP can get to 160+ easily. EP is a caring guy, probably didn't want Mika spending the night at the rink.
  3. Stanley Cup x 5. Then, Gretzky's records. Then, hall of fame. League wide retirement of #40. Comes out of the retirement, Mario Lemieux style. Stanley Cup x 2. Right?
  4. He could end up #2 behind only McDavid from 2015 draft. He isn't slow but if he gets faster and quicker, then it will happen.
  5. Actually I like him on 2nd PP. OEL and Klingberg would hog the puck on the #1PP.
  6. Boeser with speed would be like Stamkos.
  7. I turned it on, fast forwarded few minutes to see that Barzal was #2... #2!!!! Like who was better than Barzal this year? 85 points in 82 games? So I went back a minute or so and it was McAvoy who was #1... Then, I realized that this show is geared towards Eastern viewers, in particular, the viewers in the New England region. Don't let it bother you man. It means nothing. By the way, is that Kevin Weekes? Man he gained a lot of weight.
  8. lol, it is indeed funny when you look back at some of the older posts.

From what I have seen, OJ is a good player but he needs to gain some confidence. He has to want the puck on his stick. Right now, he is playing like a passenger, just wanting to compliment those players around him. Therefore, he usually plays a mistake free game but doesn't end up making big contributions. I think whenever he showed up to the game, ready take over the game, he did much better and much more noticeable. For example, in 2017-18 WJC.
  10. Other thing I noticed that EP did really well was helping out his center win the faceoff. A lot of winger wins thanks to EP. If EP plays with Bo, Bo may get up to 55-57% range on faceoffs.
  11. I think Nilsson is one of the reasons why Sweden lost today against Finland. Bobbled the puck few times. And overall, he wasn't so great. Against Russia, I think the goalie was Gustavsson? Whoever that was, should be the starter if Sweden wants to win games. He was very stable.

Yeah for that reason I think Juolevi is going to be great. Juolevi has great vision and a very sharp shot. We are looking at defensively responsible PMD that can QB the powerplay. In fact, Salo would be my projection for OJ. Solid defensively, can move the puck, skates well, and shoots well (Salo the slapper, OJ the wrister being the difference). But in case anyone was expecting him to be a driver from the backend, like Karlsson, Doughty, and etc, well, I don't think Juolevi will quite turn out that way. I don't want to speak too soon but that's my impression so far.
  13. I was actually at the games both against Russia and Finland. Against Russia, Andersson played hard and was more noticeable playing with Zibanejad and I think Janmark, whereas EP played the safe game and deferred the puck quite a bit to Backlund. Against Finland, EP showed that he is the best playmaker on the team whereas Andersson ended up playing on a checking line with Axel Johnsson-Fjallby. If anything, I think the last spot on the team was between Andersson and Johnsson-Fjallby. EP played #1PP and was very dangerous with the puck. When Sweden had 5-on-3 PP, somehow, they went with Backlund-Zibanejad-Janmark. I guess Janmark for net front presence and OEL and Klingberg to QB the PP. But it was obvious that Backlund was not so effective making plays at the half wall as EP so they really got nothing done during 5-on-3. I do have to give some props to Andersson and Johnsson-Fjallby. Andersson has NHL ready frame. Kind of built like Max Domi. He was engaged quite a bit physically and knocked off pucks off of the defenders effectively. Johnsson-Fjallby was a fast skater, reminded me a bit of Hansen.

I thought Juolevi had a good game against the Swedes. Good defensively, broke up plays. Made good first passes and shower great vision to recognize passing options. But no pp time so it was hard to assess him fully. In fact, he didn't play a whole lot, which was unsatisfying. I think Juolevi is a real smart player. He was constantly talking to the coaches during the game. My one concern is that he did not seem like the type of player that wants the puck on his stick to drive the play. I think OJ, EP, Bo, and Boeser will be great together. OJ can transition the puck up to EP or Bo, who can drive the puck and make things happen with the puck. Boeser can finish.
  15. Pettersson was great today. I think he was by far the best playmaker on team Sweden. His stick handling in tight was very good. I thought he looked better than Aho and Teravainen. But highlight of the day for me was when Juolevi with his smooth skating escaped Pettersson's forecheck. They actually went head to head quite a bit.
  16. Mistake free game and created a chance or two. But largely uneventful. Nikita had a very good game in my opinion. Skated well played against Sweden's first line. Russia had this weird system where Tryamkin was clogging up the neutral zone rather than being positioned on defensive side.
  17. Sweden's coach prefers Andersson it seems. More physically ready I guess?

I have heard this story before.... Ben Hutton. He could skate well and escape trouble in his first year. Now, he gets caught every time. I almost feel like Canucks are giving these kids wrong advice.
  19. We need a new backup. Marky + Nilsson will be a disaster. Well, it will get us a high draft pick. So maybe we don't need a new backup.
  20. I like this proposal. Hockey god, please accept this proposal.
  21. Interesting. I saw Andersson more like Ryan O'Reilly and EP as Backstrom. If it came down to O'Reilly vs Backstrom, Backstrom all day every day. But if indeed your projection of Andersson as a player that can be at Kopitar's level, then NYR comes out of this draft as the lone winner.
  22. I get a sense that he is actually quite loyal to the team that drafted him. My bet is that he will return after his Russian contract expires if not sooner.
  23. That first goal is very much Patrick Kane like stick handling.
  24. EP and Patrick Kane comparison is pretty interesting. Kane has really quick feet but it does seem like EP and Kane has quite a bit of overlap. And I agree with Dahlen. I think this kid is going to make the team next season. At least, I won't be surprised if he makes it. I'm surprised about Dahlin comparison to Hedman though. Hedman was drafted a while ago but I vaguely remember not being that impressed with him. My roommate was a Swede and he also wasn't too impressed with Hedman. It was based only on few games but Hedman didn't give me the same impression that I get from Dahlin. Yes, Hedman turned out great but then, I think Dahlin might even be better than Hedman. Not sure about Lind comment. I think Shinkaruk's skillset clearly wasn't enough for top 6 role. He was not able to adjust into becoming a middle 6 players. I think Lind is in the same boat in this regard. I guess we will have better options than Lind in our top 6 so Lind will have to adjust his game. I think he will be able to do it though.
