  1. Like I said earlier, Canada does a good job in small scale support and training, especially with it's special ops. US grunts, like the marines, basically have all the ammo they can fire so it's "spray and pray" which is one of the reasons we have an all too high friendly fire casualty problem. You take out plenty of the enemy, but you also tend to hit your own guys as well. It's been a year or two since I last checked, but Canada and the UK always went back and forth on holding the record on long distance shooting/sniping. It's ridiculous on how far away some of those shots/kills are. It's weird thinking about how some poor sap in Afghanistan goes to take a leak behind a rock and a mile and a half away some UK or Canadian sniper calmly aims and puts a hole in the side of his head.
  2. I have got to be one of the few people that still like Nickelback. I don't get the hate that gets thrown their way.
  3. I'm just giving you good-natured grief. They should consider turning your old unit back into a special forces unit something along the lines of the Army Rangers here in the US. One thing Canada has always gotten right and supported is it's special ops forces.
  4. I remember as a young kid when I got the NES on Christmas day in '85 or '86. It was the one with the gun and the dual SMB/Duck Hunt cartridge.
  5. Women have been just as nasty as men when they're in power. History is replete with queens and empresses who were serious pieces of .... work ....
  6. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  7. Yes. They were once a great unit. Very important in WW2. There's an article that I linked in the Canadian armed forces thread that talks about how much Canada let them decline over the decades to the point where even their practice ammunition was severely limited.
  8. John Candy used to come to Buffalo and party with the Buffalo Bills players in the late 80's - early 90's. He was at Jim Kelly's old house in Orchard Park all of the time.
  9. My point is that you can only bloody someone's noses so many times before they strike back. The Saudis are arming themselves to do just that (as well as to control unrest when the oil money starts to dry up and they can no longer give their citizens free cash).
  10. They'll be playing with fire if they do that. The Saudis are beefing up their military as it is. If the Iranians keep tweaking them, Trump will just keep selling the Saudis more and more weapons.
  11. It makes them feel superior so I usually just ignore it. There's a reason why so many countries, including Canada, were able to afford things like universal health care. That money came from letting militaries around the world contract and become relatively impotent while the US foots the bill. I wish more people knew their military history. Canada once had one of the more powerful militaries in the world. Now it's reduced to the point where it's trying to put together a half decent Navy. I can only imagine the frustration of Canadian Generals and Admirals. One of your former Ministers of Defence sounded the bell and was ignored for a long time.
  12. Iran actually practices doing it. I can definitely see someone dumb enough in Iran to give that order.
  13. They can sink a US Navy vessel if it gets close enough to it's shores if they bum rush it with smaller explosive laden boats, but that's about it. Once they do that, they may as well pull a Bin Laden and start running for their lives because cruise missiles and missile laden drones would be headed their way. All of the embassy protests in the world wouldn't save them at that point.
  14. I was embarrassed when I read how little ammunition a once proud Canadian regiment was given each month to practice shooting with. I'm trying to remember it's name. I posted on CDC once about it. It is named after a past UK princess.
  15. All Iran can really do is bum rush a US Navy vessel with a bunch of small boats loaded with explosives and once they do that and sink it, we'll park an entire carrier group way out of their reach and bombard Tehran with cruise missiles.
  16. Not you in particular. Just the usual suspects who want to crap on the US and it's policies since Canada lost it's relevance on the world stage once the Cold War ended and it let it's military slowly decay.
  17. How dare you bring actual facts into the discussion! Now be a good Canadian and act all superior for no real good reason!
  18. He's a clown. Always has been. Always will be. There's a past tweet for pretty much everything he does. That's what happens when you throw feces at a wall for years on end while hoping something sticks.
  19. Yeah, sure, because the US will listen to the Iraqis when they throw their shoes and yell "death to America" for the umpteenth time this week.
  20. Drop/trade 49. Keep Eichel. Unfortunately I'm not even sure that would work. It seems that something is broken in the organization and Botterill is either playing the long game or he's not a good GM. Jury is still out.
  21. If Brady is Brady of week 16, the Pats will win. If week 17 Brady shows up, the Packers will spank the Patriots.
  22. He's having an awesome year. If you want to make a Leafs fan angry, tell them that Eichel is better than Matthews. It's really burning their butts this year because Eichel is showing how much better he is and he's doing it on a lousy team.
  23. Eichel's old linemate from university. The Sabres picked him up after he went undrafted. He started off ok as a bottom 6 forward, but trailed off over the last year or so. If there were interest in him, the Sabres would have already traded him. Instead they just promoted a player from the AHL over him yesterday. That's likely why his agent is making noise today.
