  1. When I said grit what I meant was a player that plays on the edge a bit more, someone who goes out of their way to bring physicality. Size and skill with a bit of a mean streak. Watching the playoffs this year reiterates the need for those types of players still in today's game. The only forward besides Bo the Canucks have for this next core with these attributes is virtanen who is no guarantee to be on the team. With that being said there may not be a player in the top ten who fits that mold.
  2. Ok I didn't realize he was on such a deep team. I'm not saying flat out that Glass and Vilardi are better for sure, just haven't paid much attention to Necas. As long as we get a a player that will contribute at the nhl level I'm happy. I will admit though while watching the playoffs I am concerned benning seems to be building a softer team, not much grit up front.
  3. Sure of course there are other factors to consider than a stat line and that's why I'm asking. Imo Glass and Vilardi bring other intangibles like playing a more physical game. Unless Necas is burning up the scoresheet I just don't see why they would have him ahead of those 2
  4. Necas had 15 points in 41 games with HC Kometa this year?... Maybe I'm missing something but that stat line is none too impressive.
  5. Nothing wrong with that, if he tops out as malhotra that would be great. Every team needs 3rd/4th line grinder/pkers. I like the idea of younger guys growing together as a core for the future.
  6. Just seems like most articles I've read about him have scouts ranking him 3rd. To be honest the thing that impresses me the most about him is his attitude. Reminds me of horvat in that he's got that drive to succeed, maybe it's more of a gut instinct I've got about him but horvats drive combined with a bigger frame and equal if not better offensive instincts spells success to me.
  7. Seems like most people on here like players other than vilardi based on team need. Been down that road before and IMHO vilardi is bpa after the top 2. He could always be dealt later similar to johansen for jones. I think he's the most likely to become a solid nhler.
  8. I see a lot of people comparing jake to tom wilson. If he ends up like Wilson I'll be thrilled, he's exactly what the canucks need. Size, grit, energy with some scoring touch.
