  1. Yeah, we sure showed him, eh?
  2. I know, it made me laugh too. Then I realized that the NHL and their minions (which include the mods on every NHL message board, all of which which the NHL owns) tolerate and even love this conspiracy nonsense because it keep the fanatical hockey fans talking about hockey 24-7. Since nobody can prove anything conclusively the NHL doesn't shut down ridiculous threads like this; they simply let the conspiracy theorists make themselves look like the nutbars that they are. 10 pages and counting of this silliness with no end in sight; gotta love it. Remind me again why the NHL would hate it if the Canucks won the Cup. After having one Stanley Cup parade in the Devils' parking lot you would think that a Cup starved market where hockey is king would be just what the NHL would want. The biggest thing ever to happen in Vancouver; yeah the NHL would hate that.
  3. You are hallucinating. 2 SOG in the 2nd period is not great hockey.
  4. So I guess the next time Kassian plays in Edmonton he should just hide in his hotel room, eh?
  5. Remind me again about the last time a Canuck player was attacked while in a club on the road. First his grandparents, then his church now this. Guess it was just the work of more of those "anarchists and terrorists" since we all know that no Canuck fan would ever do this...
  6. Bert's "fine" was 17 regular season games which he would have been paid for. Players don't get paid for the playoffs (other than team performance bonuses)
  7. Not enough IMHO (I wanted 20 games) but it is still 2 games less than Bert got for a criminal assault that ended a player's career and pretty much ruined his life. Last I checked Orpik will be just fine...
  8. Erm, we do seem to play OK when he's on the DL. Anybody care to look up our record during his two injuries this year? Or our record with him in the lineup? Not a hater, just sayin'...
  9. The difference is that Moore wouldn't fight every Canuck that wanted a piece of him despite just having had his first ever pro hockey fight. Punk,
  10. Are you suggesting that the Bruins and their arena staff refused the Canucks medical staff the use of a stretcher? Perhaps you are suggesting that the Bruins don't even have a stretcher in their arena. Certainly you seem to be suggesting that the Bruins organization bore sufficient malice towards the Canucks and their players that they would refuse an injured opponent appropriate medical attention which, if there were a grain of truth in it and it was even remotely verifiable would result in massive lawsuits and probably even criminal charges.
  11. Gotta agree and I don't have any particular hate on for the Bruins. This is so outside the rules of hockey that it should indeed be treated as a criminal assault (just like Bertuzzi who, IMHO should have been banned from the NHL altogether). If I'm Shanny I'm treating this as two seperate incidents; the slewfoot and the attack once Orpik was down. 10 games minimum for each sez I...
  12. Thank you. The refs are buying whatever Lou is selling tonight.
  13. Live music between periods is a great idea! We should have the Hanson Brothers play between periods...
  14. He's been great tonight IMHO. So far, that is...
  15. I laughed; yup those 7 games Sturm played for us two years ago really screwed us up.
  16. I can take or leave the Ceeb's coverage but it makes me laugh when people here say that Sportsnet is superior. Apart from Taylor and Valk, who I feel are relatively unbiased, the whole broadcast is so arse lickingly pro-Canucks that even this Canuck fan winces almost every game. Two examples from tonight: Cheech says that KB gets slashed by a Flame which breaks his stick; in reality it is KB doing the slashing which breaks his stick. Later the crew says that KB gets slashed in the hand in front of the Flames net; in fact he blocks a shot with his hand. This sort of thing happens every game. They also use different terminology depending on what team they are talking about; if an opponent hits a Canuck it is usually referred to as a "slash" or a "trip" or some other penalty term. Even if a Canuck totally cheap shots an opponent it is almost always simply referred to as a "hit". Another thing that a lot of Canuck fans don't realise is that, outside of Vancouver, the Canucks aren't as popular as some folks here think. I live in a town of about 10,000 on the south island with four bars in it and in the bad old PPV days not one of them would fork out the dough to pay for it (which was a LOT of $$$ by the way) because nobody came to the bars to watch the games; often I would be the only person there who came just to watch the game, a situation that persists to this day. Nobody in town cares. One of the bars (unfortunately the best one) is run by a massive Habs fan who hates the Canucks (he calls them whiners and divers naturally) and just recently in Victoria one of the bigger bars has announced that it is now a Maple Leafs bar for roughly the same reason. Other than maybe the Shark Club here there is no real Canuck bar on the south island that I know of. When I lived in Toronto in the mid 80's I never once met a Canuck fan. The fact that most of our games start so late in the largest markets in Canada is the obvious reason that we get fewer games than the Habs or Leafs (two teams that sell out their road games in Van pretty much instantly) and I noticed that the OP conveniently failed to mention the number of games that show the Flames, Oilers and Jets. So I, like Baggins think this thread is just more whining by some touchy Canuck fans. As a bunch of posters say here, just be thankful that you can see every game on TV these days instead of having to rely on the evil PPV.
  17. If you mean "characters" then I agree with you.
  18. Pretty much the whole rest of the hockey world disagrees with you I'm afraid. Bert/Moore, Burrows' biting and hair pulling, Kesler's incessant diving, the constant whining from the GM on down, the Rypien "memorial" controversy, the riot where at least 60% of the participants were wearing Canucks merch... The list is almost endless. Oh, and it sure seems that Trevor has distanced himself from this ownership group as much as he can without actually publicly criticising it. Methinks it's the Aquillini's. Maybe he has tried to do real estate business with them (where they have a chequered history apparently).
  19. It seems to me like every Canuck player who was ever injured gets this excuse. What surgery is this?
  20. Marco Sturm was re-habbing a serious knee injury and he got 6 games with his new team before he was uncerimoniously dumped. Guess he didn't have a big enough contract for him to get cut any slack here at hypocricy central.
  21. What makes me laugh about this thread is that I remember a guy named Wellwood who showed up rehabbing a broken foot and who was being castigated by everybody in Vancouver BEFORE HE EVER EVEN HIT THE ICE by both "fans" and even his coach (and who was making league minimum). Considered "fat" at 185 lbs. he was run out of town despite being a crafty skill player (and terrific shootout specialist which we don't need , right?) and is currently the cheapest 18 goal scorer in the NHL. Garrison will get cut all the slack he needs forever, probably because he makes a lot of dough based on one good season with a lousy team and nobody here will ever admit to our genius GM ever making a mistake. A hoot. So far he sucks IMHO.
  22. Dez can't sing anymore? Could he ever? He was my fave BF vocalist by a slim margin over Hank; if anything even more depraved and intense. Who is in this reunited lineup?
  23. I buy about 500 CD's and LP's a year and the very best one that I have acquired this whole year is from Vancouver's own Ford Pier and his mighty Vengeance trio called "Huzzah". As hard rocking and literate a rock album as you will ever hear it is simply brilliant and what's more you can go to Red Cat records (IMHO the best record/CD store in B.C.) and buy a copy off the man himself since, like all great musicians, he needs a day job to stay alive. Catch them live too; these guys can PLAY!
