Well, I’ve been around and got a lot of hostility since I said Benning was a bad man because he is saving his own face all the time. Laying the blame on others while posters here thought he was honest.

The new management is completely different there. They can say that a coach is doing it the wrong way going forward.
That is a healthy sign, not something bad.

Especially since it was quite clear that JR had right about BB.

PA trust the organisation they got in place.

It is quite amazing to have a modern organisation with modern leaders in place.

Benning was old school, really bad as a leader and bad as a moral/ethic example for the players.

I noticed the things you're talking about when PA took more of a leading role and JR stepped back. Roughly around late February. I'm really hoping they can figure a way to get out of their cap situation without dumping more picks if they can do I will have a lot more confidence moving forward.

I’m a bit curious, what is the bad stuff and headsratching?

Bad stuff trading away way too many draft picks, and signing too many wingers to too much of our cap,  we are over the cap going into the offseason, which I can't remember ever happening before. Head scratching any time JR opened his mouth for one but most importantly the terrible way they treated BB not only before they finally fired him but from the end of last season until they fired him.

But I keep answering your questions, and you still keep avoiding telling me the amazing difference that they have made, I truly would like to know what it is?

And used words like messy, flubbed, traded a tonne of picks, worst salary cap ever… Yeah, benefit of the doubt just after you cut of their head.

That was in response to you saying the difference they have made is amazing, which so far they haven't but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, as they have done some good things, Kuzi has been great, the Horvat trade was pretty good, the Hronek trade seems fair so far but we need to see how he does and more importantly what he re-signs for as well as Petey which is why I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt till the beginning of the 2024 season.  What I'm seeing so far is some good stuff and some bad stuff and a head-scratcher.

I didn't like them at all until they re-signed Kuzi and traded Bo, which made me lengthen the leash, but I would still like to know what this amazing difference you said they have made is?  I'm certainly not rooting against PA, I definitely want him to succeed here.  I like PA more than JR that's for sure and I'm glad he seems to have taken more control of the team. JR on the other hand I'm glad he's decided to talk less as he always seems to me like he thinks his Poop doesn't stink and it definitely does.

As for Benning he did some good stuff and some bad stuff and in hindsight, he should have been fired before he got the chance to trade for OEL, which is a trade that just wreaks of a desperate GM throwing a hail Mary.

Lol, so it was suicide alert when Benning was GM?
The difference in quality is amazing so if you’re not impressed it must have been really bad before.

How is the difference amazing exactly?  PA has traded a tonne of draft picks and we are in the worst salary cap situation we have ever been in? Not to mention the whole BB situation they completely flubbed.  I'll give them the benefit of the doubt till the start of the 2024 season, once I see how they handle the EP and Hronek signings, but so far it's been pretty messy.

  5. Brock really needs to take this offseason seriously, IMO he hasn't done so in a long time. He's had his reasons and I respect that, but those reasons are behind him now and he really needs to push himself.  I used to be really excited to have him on our team but the last 4-5 seasons he's really stagnated as a hockey player.  I'd really like to be excited to have Brock on the team cause he's an excellent hockey player again and not just because he is an excellent human being.

  6. I don't get too invested in the players anymore, as I find they are all (or most of them) just mercenaries anyways just looking for top dollar. But when I was a kid and say Bure would have said that my feelings would have been hurt for sure.  So I feel bad for the kids that are Horvat fans, regardless of how he meant it or not, it wasn't a very well-thought-out answer.

I'm sorry, but this is such a dumb argument when it's used.  So if someone said a week ago that Elias Pettersson is worth X because he's a 30 goal, 90 point 1C, would you actually argue and state that all he is is a 60 point centre?

He very well might be a 40-goal 100 point center, but you can't really claim he is one until he actually is one, that seems obvious to me. He's currently an 81-point center so it looks good but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

We got rid of Bo before his demanded gross overpay raise. We used part of the return (from the Bo dumperoo) to get a 25 year old, high end, super good, right shot D. Hronek’s next contract will be around 7 per. (Summer 2024, when Myers is for sure off our books) So not double and still a lot less than Bo just got from the Islanders.

We now have Hughes to carry our top pair, which he’s proven to do great.

And we have Hronek to carry our second pair, which he’s proven to do great.

And they are both young and have 7-10 years of great play left.

Or do we keep that first (looking to be 17-22) and hope to draft snd develop a guy who turns into Hronek in five years?

They only traded Horvat because they couldn't sign him if they had the money they would, but all they have done now is punt the problem one year down the road,  Hronek might and probably will outperform his contract next year but he will be hard pressed to outperform his next one as will EP.  If you want to win a CUP you need to have contracts that outperform their cost and the easiest way to do that is to have a steady stream of players on entry-level contracts.  But the Canucks management always thinks it's special and can skip that step.

The biggest problem Canuck management has is they can't wrap their heads around the Salary cap.  They simply don't understand how it works and constantly back themselves in a corner, they are like children that don't understand that if they want this expensive toy for their birthday that means they can't get a bunch of other presents too. It's maddening, the sheer incompetence of it all.  These guys talk like they understand the cap, but they don't plain and simple.
