  1. I love Guddys heart and ruggedness, I'm not arguing with that in the slightest. Do you have a preference between Villardi and Glass in your ideal draft or are they about rated equally by you? Just curious, not looking to beef haha
  2. Regardless this thread is getting way off topic here, let's bring it back to this upcoming draft
  3. So far? As much as Guddy has done for us, and I'm aware he was injured. He's gonna get payed too much on his next deal for what he's done. I think it was definitely an overpayment. He's a tough, rugged defenceman, the kind of guy you can get in free agency on almost a yearly basis. I don't hate the player just the trade. Value wise we lost the deal. Florida had him for 6 years or so and was willing to give up on him for a reason, he's pretty limited in what he brings to the table. I love his toughness but i wouldn't move a guy we just took in the first plus a second for him. Not with is being in the situation we are in. If we were a contender and needed a physical force on the back end to push us over the top I would have been all over it, but we aren't.
  4. Kulikov was a plus 8 on that team and Guddy a plus 3, maybe Kulikov had more to do with it haha. He's a rugged defenceman that we overpayed for, not the end of the world but it is what it is
  5. You scout just as Ricky from tpb would haha. I like your jib
  6. Yet if someone says that about Jake people come running from the hills to his rescue haha. Then it was a terrible pick by JB if that's what you think of him. I didn't and don't like the trade. It was awful value and asset management which has been a recurring theme with this team over the years. Kinda why we are in the spot we are now
  7. I loved what he did at the trade deadline. I'm not enamoured with Goldy but there's so much potential there and I love Dahlen. If he moves Tanev and doesn't try and add a guy like Kane then he's showing patience. His retool idea didn't work, he needs to rebuild and moving Tanev goes a long way in doing that. The Eriksson signing is the example I should have used over the Guddy trade in terms of patience
  8. I don't dislike him, I just think we lost the trade and used that trade to show that Jim isn't patient.
  9. I don't think he will. He hasn't shown patience yet so I doubt he starts now. In 3-5 years chances are he won't be running the team anymore. We will have to see how patient ownership is with Jim but knowing his job is on the line he doesn't have the time to be patient. Unfortunately
  10. Trading a guy with potential you just took in the first round, a second rounder and moving back from the 4th round to the 5th doesn't seem like a genius move to me. I like Gudbranson but I wouldn't make that move, as a team in a rebuild? It's not smart
  11. The deal he made for Gudbranson wasn't a patient move. Most of the moves he's made haven't shown patience, they've showed that he wants to win, he just hasn't done a good job but that's how he sold his moves. Until this past TDL when he actually traded strictly for futures, the first patient moves he's really made since being here
  12. I like Petterson too he just doesn't top my list. If we took him at 5 I wouldn't be pissed at all.
  13. I get where you're coming from but if he were to come out after year 2 I would think he'll be much more physically mature than he is now and if he needs more seasoning than a year in the A doesn't hurt. We aren't in win now mode so if we need patience with him that's not a bad route
  14. I don't think he'll be in college longer than 2 years. I'm not concerned with the whole bench press and pull up thing as i don't see the correlation between them and being a good hockey player. That's just my take though, I don't claim to be a messiah and respect your opinion. Regardless of who we get I hope he turns out to be legit
  15. I think Glass, Mittlestadt and Necas have really high ceilings with Glass having the highest floor of the 3. I'd take them over Gabe Villardi because I don't see him as being all that dynamic, I've seen him play a lot and he really stood out at the mem cup but he isn't my guy
  16. Yeah that passes. Also the guy I want at 5 but I would be happy with Mittlestadt or Necas in that spot too
  17. He's a polarizing player and he's bound to come up. It just is what it is, making a comment and then continuing it is only going to keep that conversation going. Who do you want with the 5th, 33rd and 55th picks in your dream world? Answering this might stead the thread back in the right direction
  18. So sensitive, no one wants him to fail, that's why people are upset. Everyone would be stoked if he turned out to be the best played drafted after the third pick. Let's bring it back to this coming draft though
  19. Agreed, while don't want players to feel entitled, stunting their growth is the worst thing you can do and burying a young guy in the lineup can definitely do that. If he's not in the top 9 then send him to the AHL.
  20. Haha that's a great post bro. I hope nothing but the best for him as it only benefits us as fans of the team. I'm not wanting him to be terrible in the slightest. You make great points
  21. I hope he becomes a useful NHLer but that doesn't mean that as a fan I need to have blind faith in every move the organization makes they dropped the ball on that selection, it's not the end of the world, and I don't hold that single selection over JB. It just is what it is, expecting everyone to cheer what he's done so far is hard and unreasonable to expect.
  22. I agree it shouldn't be a deciding factor but I just happen to think it was. I feel like this team thought it would sell more tickets and being good press after a bad year. I feel like Linden was a PR hiring. Everytime Benning does an interview he gives mixed messages and I think that's PR related as well. I love the Canucks but I don't think they're run very well and it starts at ownership. I could very well be wrong but I think Jake getting drafted here definitely had to do with public relations. I'm not saying you're wrong we just think differently about it
  23. I just feel like to be a safe pick you need to think the game the right way as that's the easiest way to be an effective NHLer, I completely get where you're coming from though. I agree he had the highest floor of guys where we were picking but definitely not the highest ceiling and unfortunately it didn't take long for others to surpass him. That's just the way it goes sometimes though
