JB very well could have had Jake as the BPA but if he did then that's just as bad as doing it as a PR move. Him and Linden coming in for their first draft with the team, I feel they made that move thinking it would be endearing and obviously liked the player as well but had he not been a BC boy I don't think he's the pick they would have made. That's complete speculation on my part, I obviously have no idea but if I had to bet that's where my money goes

He's a decent third line C but I don't like the contract. I don't think Goldy ever becomes a shut down guy. It wouldn't be a prototypical third line but if we are gonna have another down year I'd at least like to see more offense haha. The last couple years have been awfully boring to watch, I need more excitement if I'm gonna watch all these losses. It's been painful

I don't really like Sutter but if you put Goldy on one wing and another more offensive minded winger with them I don't hate that line.

Yeah he's a lightning rod for sure haha. But back to this coming draft of Rasanen is available with our 4th I really hope we grab him.

I wanted Ehlers one and Nylander two but I don't hate JB for going another direction. I'm not a big fan of his either though haha

Virtanen could shoot and skate but a lot of analysts didn't think his offence would translate because you can't just rely on a heavy shot in the NHL, it's hard to shoot picks by goalies just because you shoot hard in the bigs and that was most his goals in junior. I just think his low IQ is the biggest reason he wasn't a safe pick. I mean he easily profiles as a 4th liner if all else fails but I don't consider that safe. I don't think your opinions wrong though, you elaborated on why, which I always appreciate. I'm not here to hate on anyone.

Absolutely agree. I like Goldy in the offensive zone but with Wilie benching him I think it killed his confidence, he's a guy that oozes with offensive potential but we might just have to live with poor D, and if he produces I'm fine with that. I really hope we move Tanev even though I'm a fan of his. We need to rebuild properly and it finally started at last years TDL and needs to continue

I really hope he turns its around I'm just not banking on it. I'm way too excited to see who we get this year though. And I'm beyond stoked on Dahlen. We've never had prospect depth and ceiling potential like we do now which is only a positive

I think that's the same reason he was drafted too. I don't agree with the whole opinion thing though, some people are wrong whether they have their own opinion or not. Opinion is you like blue and I like red but if someone says in their opinion 1 and 1 is 3 then they're wrong. Not that I'm saying what we were discussing isn't opinion related, just a general statement. Though I do think Jakes lack of hockey IQ automatically makes him an unsafe pick, the whole safe and unsafe pick thing is opinion and not fact.

He's safe because he could skate and shoot? Safe picks generally have a high IQ and work ethic, so he wasn't a safe pick at all. He's still just 20 and could potentially turn it around but he was certainly not a safe pick.

Horvat was definitely a safe pick, Juolevi is a safer pick than Virtanen but I don't know if I'd label him as that and Virtanen was certainly not a safe pick.

Seguin won a pretty valuable ring

Mittlestadt also played in the USHL last year and his numbers there were really good, didn't just play high school hockey

I don't think anyone is dedicating their life to this thread just responding to others. I'm stoked for the upcoming draft, have been enjoying the playoffs and working every day. This is just a thread where people are on one side of the fence or the other, there isn't much grey area with Jake so he's a pretty hot topic and with no real info, Instagram and someone meeting him doesn't mean anything, then we just go on what we know which is what we've seen. It's definitely a pretty hostile thread but with a player like Jake it's expected. Hopefully he rips it up next year, I'm just not holding my breath

Yeah you guys are right, everyone should be talking about how he'll score between 20-30 goals next year because he's fit now! You get mad when you see negativity about someone who's been disappointing? What else would you possibly expect.

There won't be pertinent information until he's at camp, if you don't wanna see anything negative then don't go to the most polarizing player in the organizations thread.

Hopefully him being jacked turns into on ice improvement this coming year and going forward

I completely agree. thats why I don't think those numbers are too disconcerting, though ideally he would have shown more upper body strength it's not the be all end all.

Both, he's weak for his size and has lots of room for improvement. I don't think those numbers scare me off but it's a little concerning for sure

Once you start taking shots at someone it's just conceding that you can't debate and have lost. If you really were being sarcastic you wouldn't have waited until one person said they interpreted it as toungue in cheek, you would have mentioned it while multiple people were ridiculing your ridiculous statement. Intelligent people don't go to name calling, they go to facts. If you were smart you would know sarcasm doesn't translate through text. Good try though!! Maybe next time? Probably not though.
