Hes certainly picked up the pace. Hopefully it will trabslate to a contract and AHL time next year.

I have a feeling Pettersson will probably start as a winger in the NHL and transition to C too.
He does seem a bit more productive as a winger than a C so far playing against men in both the SHL and Allsvenskan.
We wont really need him to play C if 4 of Horvat, Sutter, Gaudette, Gagner, Gaunce, and Granlund all play well in the middle over next 3 years or so.
As such I think we could see him fill in as a C when injuries happen, but spend most of his time on the wing until he proves to be a better option in the middle.
There is a good chance we will draft another high quality C over the next 3 years as well. So it shouldnt really matter where he plays as long as he is productive.

Lind will be the most interesting prospect to follow next year in my opinion. His output this season has shown he can score at top end rates in junior, but he still hasn't put it together in the playoffs.
If he can play well in the post season and get a couple games with Utica I could see him having a great year in the AHL next year.

Gaudette will be playing in the Bean Pot this coming up week. Should be some games available to watch.

Had a good outing in the allstar game from all accounts. Nice to see him getting some recognition for his stellar play this year

Shades of Tate Olson. Hopefully he gets a contract though

Its good to see that he can play in the middle at the SHL level. I do thibk it would be great for him to have 1 full year as a C in Sweden before coming over to North America.
The only down side is he doesnt get the puck off the draw as often when he is playing C. He more dangerous with the puck than as someone looking to get it back. Playibg a full year having to rely on his wingers to get him the puck back in scoring positions would be helpful. He would also learn how to drive play from the middle of the ice more through the neutral zone.
Overall this year has been as good as one could hope so far.
-
One thing Ive noticed is that he really needs to play with a play maker on his wing. I can see him working well with someone like Dahlen or Goldobin if he starts to attack more.
-
Starting to show some signs. He could be a new Jannik Hansen for us in 2 years. He was always light for his size and age not unlike Pettersson. Just needed some extra time.
-
Too bad he wasnt selected but it looks like he is still progressing well.
I wouldnt have thought he would have been so close to making it last year. He's come a long way.

Good for him!

Thats good news. Overall we know he can score from the wing so putting him in at cetre will challenge him more.

From all accounts Olli was the best Finnish player today in their most important game. That's what you want to see from a prospect. Stepping it up when the pressure mounts.
I'm still not 100% sure why he was used as the 5th shooter in the shootout. If you're going to use a D might as well put them in early. Regardless, the Finnish forwards were the ones who couldn't get it done this tournament. There D was very good, but they couldn't get much out of there forward group save for 2 or 3 guys.
They should have taken Kotkaniemi!!!!!!!- 2

He's having a good game. I've liked his patience and passing in the offensive zone. You know once he gets up to the NHL Boeser is going to be getting the puck with room to move from Juolevi.
Juolevi has shown he can play very well with strong right handed shooters. The problem is he hasn't played with any in a while.- 1

His effort level and conditioning make up for his overall speed. If Jake skated as hard as Jonah and was in as good shape at the same age he would have had a much easier time transitioning to pro.
-
Still learning the pro game, but for an underheight young guy he is doing very well.

Steenbergen could have easily been replaced by Lind in my opinion on Team Canada. Good news is that Lind will get huge minutes for the Rockets in early January though.
Hopefully he takes his game to a new level regardless of where he is playing. -
Definition of hard to play against.
North American Heart? Yup
European Skill? Still working on it. -
He and Lockwood would make for a terrifying line to play against.
I think he will earn the praise of Canadians with his heart and work ethic at the tournament. Canucks fans will definitely be enjoying watching him grow his game at every level.Jonah "The Man Child" Gadjovich could easily be:
Jonah "The Coaches Dream" Gadjovich- 3

Liked his game today. Very consistent in his play with the exception of 1 mishandle of the puck behind the net.
He looked smooth in his own zone for the most part, getting to the right spots, and jumped up in the rush on a couple of occasions for shots. He used his strength and body more effectively than I've seen him in the past. He hasn't used some of the dynamic elements of his game that excited from his first world juniors. He plays a more conservative game now, especially in his own end.- 1

Jonah the buzzsaw incoming.

In there prime I can see Hischier and Pettersson on similar levels. The difference for me is Hischier is contributing now. Every extra year he plays and contributes is added value to his draft stock in a redraft for me.
Pettersson might take some time to adjust. Even if he has 10 more points than Hishchier in their primes career numbers could lean to Nico.
Hischier could be at the WJC this year and would likely be the best player in a head to head matchup.
-
The Boqvist Brothers include 1 forward, drafted last year 2nd round, and 1 D man, not on team Sweden for WJC.

Look at Alex Nylander too. Led the WJC in scoring last year and has been average in the AHL this year.
WJC is a good tournament, but doesnt mean much in terms of NHL ability or readiness.
Its a comparison of Country talent level and coaching more than anything.

He's basically matched himself up with guys like Sean Day, Nikita Zadorov and Andre Pedan in terms of production. If he can keep his point production streak up for the rest of the year, he will essentially be in the same spot CBC's new favourite Toronto prospect Travis Dermott was 2 years ago.
