Where's Broadway West?

Not officially on the books so it doesn't show up.

Here's what it could look like.

That doesn't show the extension deeper into Surrey very clearly, or the B-line that will run down King George Hwy to Semiahmoo Center, scheduled for 2011. The B-line busses that currently go into Richmond will be moved over once the Canada line is up and running.

You mean the way that BC Ferries did it with the C-Class vessels. BC made boats that are the most reliable in the fleet...actually the Queen of New West is, but not as nice.

The Fast Ferries should have been the lesson but they fell right into the same issues.

Well, who designed the boats that were made in Germany? I would put a tiebreak on prices to the home team for sure, and in fact would prolly do it even if it was pretty close.

If there is anything you want to contract out it's your design and engineering.

If the expo line is extended at Surrey, wouldn't it make more sense to upgrade the Surrey Central Station and outfit it like the Evergreen/Millenium line at Lougheed? AKA expo line continues to King George with possible future extension to Newton and new Surrey line extends from Surrey Central down 104th avenue to guildford mall, then down 152nd then down the Fraser highway to 168th

That's my idea too....sortof.....rather than Surrey Central, have it right after Gateway. Seems silly, and a waste of time, to have a major detour loop to Guildford further in the line.

CANADA LINE BUS INTEGRATION CHANGES

Vancouver

• Granville, Oak & Main trolley routes extended to Marine Drive Canada Line station

So the 15 will not even go into downtown then?

Well this sucks because I take the 15 bus to the downtown public library.

the 17 Oak left northbound from Broadway onto Cambie to head downtown (when it goes back to its normal route). So even if #15 terminates there, you can catch the 17 in front of Wendy's and get to the library.

Rerouting 351 bus now on fast-track

Impending changes to the Peninsula’s bus service to Vancouver may come sooner than anticipated.

According to a report to TransLink’s board, and statements from TransLink CEO Tom Prendergast, SkyTrain’s Canada Line construction is ahead of schedule, which could mean an opening as early as August.

TransLink and Coast Mountain Bus Company’s intention is to change the routing of Vancouver-bound buses as soon as Canada Line is open, sending the 351, 352 and 354 routes to Richmond to connect with SkyTrain.

The move, which will make that the most direct public transit route from White Rock and South Surrey to Vancouver, has come under fire from local residents.

As well, it has been criticized by members of White Rock council, who continue to lobby for keeping a direct one-seat option for Vancouver-bound commuters.

But Canada Line spokesman Alan Dever, while confirming the new line is ahead of schedule, could not announce a firm date for the opening.

“We’re in the midst of a testing and commissioning phase, and until that’s over you never know what’s going to happen,” he said, adding Canada Line has yet to run a full system test.

“Once you have a few of those under your belt you can set about finalizing an opening date,” he said.

Although TransLink statements appear to jump the gun, in regards to the Canada Line opening, Dever said he recognized the line is one link in a complicated and interrelated transit system.

It was necessary for transit planners to be forewarned of the possibility of an August opening, he said.

“You have to be prepared for that.”

The 19-kilometre SkyTrain system expansion will carry passengers between Richmond, downtown Vancouver and Vancouver International Airport.

The route runs overhead on elevated guideways in Richmond and on Sea Island, and goes underground in Vancouver along the Cambie Street corridor and beneath False Creek to Waterfront Station.

Work on the 16 stations is continuing, and extensive testing and commissioning work is planned in the months ahead.

The Canada Line is projected to carry 100,000 passengers a day and is to form a key part of the transportation plan for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Am I to take it the average age of White Rockers is 80 years old, who'd rather keep their asses sunk to the same bus seat than transfer to a faster train?

Or a typical Big Mac wolfing Wal-Mart shopping 300 pound suburbanite?
