Am I the only one who thinks there is a strong chance Detroit doesn't make the playoffs this year? I know its like betting on the Washington Generals to beat the Globetrotters. But I just think Detroit is due to miss! I think the loss of Lidstrom is just too much to recover from.

Since there probably will not be a season ( :sadno: ) I decided to put all the teams that struggle in and let them duke it out for a change (and the worst TV ratings in the NHL history).

West

1. Chicago

Pure offense will outweigh lack of defense. Seabrook and Keith will have good enough seasons, but the team will still break down in the playoffs

2. Vancouver

Barley won the conference last year with two all-star goalies. Could probably win it again if we overplayed Schnider, but that's not worth it

3. San Jose

As someone else said, not sure why people are underrating this team

4. LA

Their best players have a chance to keep getting better

5. Detroit

No Lidstrom, but they've still got great players; Howard is an underrated goalie.

6. St Louis

Not expecting as great a performance out of their goalies next year, but they'll still be solid.

7. Nashville

Suter is a big loss, but they've still got forward depth, Weber, and Rinne

8. Minnesota

Season is riding on Backstrom more than their new acquisitions. There was a brief period last season where they were the best team in the league, so I think with two new all-stars, they'll make it in

9. Anaheim

Some of the best forwards in the league, and a solid goalie means they did worse last season then they should have

10. Dallas

Good forwards, but I have 0 faith in Kari Lehtonen

11. Calgary

Middle of the pack again. The team looks pretty bad, but Kiprusoff will carry them

12. Phoenix

Not sure how they did what they did last season, but they've lost Whitney and they might lose Doan

13. Edmonton

Forwards get better, but they still have bad D and no goalie

14. Colorado

Average team. A bunch of their wins came from great play by Giguire which I don't think will happen again

15. Columbus

Won't be as bad a season, but they're still the weakest team in the West

East

1. Pittsburgh

Healthy Crosby and a better year goaltending wise

2. Boston

Depth a' plenty and Rask is great

3. Washington

The best in a bad division

4. NYR

Not as solid a regular season, but they've still got Lundqvist

5. Buffalo

I feel their end of year performance was more representative of what this team can do

6. Philidelphia

Awkward goaltending and average D unless Pronger comes back which is unlikely

7. Tampa Bay

Rolason was awful last year and anyone seems like they'd be better

8. Carolina

It was a tough call between New Jersey and these guys, but J Staal gives them big forward depth and Cam Ward is one of the most underrated players in the league.

9. New Jersey

Brodeur will be a tiny bit worse, which will cause them to barley miss the playoffs

10. Florida

Still feels like a mediocre bubble team. Then again, they looked like one last year too

11. Winnipeg

Still looks like an average team up and down the roster. The home ice magic might put them over the top though

12. Ottawa

Everyone other than Anderson brought their A+ game this past season and I don't think it will happen again

13. Montreal

They've got Price, which is huge, but that's all they've got

14. Toronto

Could be higher if they solve their goaltending situation

15. NY Islanders

Really not sure what to say about these poor bastards
