How can you say that he isn't in the same league as Henrik?? He's also far better in the playoffs and has won a cup, which Henrik might never do. Staal being better than Henrik defensively is entirely debatable as there are no stats to back up that claim. I'm not saying he isn't in the same league as Henrik, but Henrik also took way longer to develop than Staal did. If you compare the last four or five years of these guys' careers, Henrik blows Eric out of the water offensively speaking. Staal hit his peak early unlike Henrik but has appeared to max out around 70 - 80 points. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tystick Posted July 29, 2012 Share Posted July 29, 2012 We'll see. There is obviously a few years difference between Henrik and Eric so perhaps Eric may get better. But players that do hit their peak early like him tend to not improve drastically beyond that unlike Henrik who went from 70-80 points to beast mode for a couple seasons. Just like Crosby, Stamkos, Ovechkin, Malkin. They all hit their peak very early in their careers but wont progress much more beyond that. Stamkos is never going to score 75 or 80 goals. He might get 70, but that's it. Ovechkin is never going to reach 70. Malkin and Crosby will never reach 150 points. One player can only dominate so much nowadays.
