The BoG have come to an agreement on a penalty for Carolina signing Ovechkin.

Carolina will be penalized a first round pick from either this year or next (Carolina's choice on the year) that will be given to Edmonton.

Edmonton will send a 2nd round pick from either this year or next (Edmontons choice on the year)

Both teams will make their decisions known at the end if the regular season.

The reason for this decision was taken from a real life situation when NJD signed an illegal contract to Kovalchuk, they were penalized a first round pick from one of two years. To ease it a bit, Edmonton will send a pick back the other way.
