Keeping up with Smashville

Nashville Predators three stars of the month of October

1ST STAR

8470216.jpg

Josh Harding had to step up big for the Predators when starting goaltender Niklas Backstrom went down with an injury that forced him to miss 4 games. Harding did exactly that. With Backstrom's injury, Harding posted a record of 5-1-1. Thanks to Harding's great play, it gave the Predators their daily goalie wins as if Backstrom was never injured. This was important for the team, as we all know goalie wins are a big part of this league.

2ND STAR

With the expectancy of playing a third/fourth line role at the start of the season, the organization and our fans were very surprised by Santorelli's performance this month. Mike has 4 goals, 5 assists which totals up to 9 points in 15 games played. With his great performance Santorelli got promoted to centering the 2nd line midway October. However, Mike's new role will only be temporary for now. It is a long season. He still has a long ways to prove that he deserves to keep this new role for the rest of the season.

3RD STAR

Nashville will only become a playoff team if their best players give their best on and off the ice. On the ice, Phaneuf has 2 goals, 5 assists, 14 PIMs and a +12 rating. Including a few more minor fantasy points, Phaneuf has rallied up 76 pool points for the month of October. Off the ice, Phaneuf has been very vocal in the locker room. This is what we expect from our best players.

November started really worse <_<

A little October resume..

Our Goaltending was solid but not great.

Masons good random Stats doen´t help if doesnt grabs some Wins..well not his fault.

MacDonald had an great Start at the beginning of the Season but totally dropped down in the past 2 Weeks.

A total of 6 Wins and 1 OTL out of 17 Starts is not good...hope this wil lturn in November.

Scoring is our biggest problem.

Hodgson and Legwand each with 10 Scorerpoints doing thier Jobs.

Behind them is Rookie Bournival with 7 Scorerpoints followed by Erat and Galiardi with 5.

Gorges , Ehrhoff and Goc with 4 wich is solid but not great..we had higher exceptions..specially in Ehrhoff.

Our Bottom 6 Players doing their Jobs.

Totally disapointments are Morrow and Weiss so far.

While we cant blame Morrow ( injuries and 3-4 Line Icetime) Stephen Weiss has added awesome 2 Goals and nothing more in October. We signed him with high expections but this is a disaster. Bergenheim seems to need a Time to aclimatize after a long injury.

Our Defence is another Issue .

While Ehrhoff and Gorges doing their Jobs in a solid way ...we had higher expections in Erskine , Tallinder, Gryba and Prout.

Erskine is out with an injury now.

We hope that Gelinas can bring something Positive in the next Weeks and the other Players as well.

Anyways we have to make some moves .

But for now we ll stay patient for November even it started worse.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are excited to add Lee Stempniak to our organization and we expect him to add some much needed offence and consistency to our young team. He stated he is looking forward to being apart of rebuilding the Blue Jackets and playing on a line with Martin Hanzal and Andrew Ladd.

Prospect Mike Halmo with a 4 Points Game last Night in the AHL.

Now he has 4 Goals and 8 Points in 7 Games ...last Season he had a total of 14 Points in 46 Games.

Seems Mike has worked on his Play during the Summer. Keep it up and may we´ll see you in the NHL soon.

A Complete Minors League Players Update will follow during next Week.

Player of the Month anouncement later at the Day.

BTW...does anyone knows something about Joonas Jarvinen?

He has not played 1 single Game in the AHL this Season so far.

The New York Rangers Three Stars: October

SSTT180_Blu_Sil_Red.jpg

SmithMike_1.png

FIRST STAR!

Even without this rare Goaltender Goal for Mike Smith, His stellar play in the paint secured his First Star status for the month of October. 7 Wins, a shootout Loss, an Overtime Loss and even an ASSIST all added up to Mike's 94 points earned in October, and oh yeah, he also had that 99 point GOAL!!!! Mike Smith is our First Star of October, and he is on the ice tonight, fans!!!!

Red+White+Blue+Star.jpgRed+White+Blue+Star.jpg

HudlerJiri_2.png

Second Star!!

Jiri Hudler lead the team with goals for the Month of October, ringing FIVE biscuits in the basket. Adding in his 8 assists, five of those on the power play, and his outstanding plus minus for the month and it makes this tough choice a bit easier to make.

800012-10-Count-Red-White-Blue-Star-Party-String-Lights.jpg

IginlaJarome_2.png

Third Star!!!

Jarome Iginla had the most points by anyone not named Mike Smith in our lineup, and it is perfectly clear the 36 year old veteran still has it. he is on pace for 21 goals and 41 assists, but we feel this allstar may be just heating up! With 22 points off the plus minus and another 18 on plm's, you can see his points are very well rounded and he is not shying away from the defensive responsibilities nor the physical aspects of his game. Not by a mile!

We are very proud of our team, and would like to acknowledge that Joe Thornton, Ryan Malone, Sami Salo, Andrej Sekera, Thomas Vanek and Jake Muzzin all enjoyed a stellar October and were considered 'in the running' for the Three Stars of October.

Huge night vaults us to 21st. Awesome start to the month.

Heh, I saw that, but with some work to do on my team this morning, will save the standings update till Sunday AM.

Man, i have 5 injured guys, not counting Sbisa and Souray who are on LTIR...7 in total...I should have left more on LTIR for longer...but keep thinking they will be back before i will know it....sigh. Injuries have me slipping from 1st to 5th. Tonight will be a big night, could go either way, but Florida and Pittsburgh are breathing hard down my neck.

Detroit GM RobertoLuongo. is available via PM if any team is looking to make some deals, small or large. I normally don't get a chance to get an extended time online because of other commitments in life, but I should be able to respond reasonably quickly for the next few hours.
