DeNiro
A couple weird picks (Tryamkin over Glover, Forsling over Mayo). Also wish the Canucks would've selected Tyson Baillie. Getting Demko made up for it but I wish the Canucks would've kept the 50th. McKeown has great potential and although Vey is very good would rather the Canucks have the dman. Are they weird picks? Can you honestly say you knew anything about Forsling or Tryamkin before they were drafted? Everyone gets all hyped on these CHL prospects and forget that there's a whole other crop of prospects oversees. Limiting scouting to just CHL players is not a good way to build a winning team. There's a good chance none of the players you mentioned reach their potential, or even make the NHL. That's just the reality of drafting. You just have to pick the players that best suit your needs and hope their development goes according to plan. Nobody knows who will be better than who at this point, it's really just a guessing game. Vey will help this team as soon as next season. Mckeown is likely 4 years away from even getting a sniff at the NHL. We'll have many draft picks to secure a legit puck moving D-man between now and then. Hugor Hill
Canucks President of Hockey Operations Trevor Linden chats with Joey Kenward after an eventful weekend at the 2014 NHL Draft in Philadelphia. Trevor looks tired. He's been working hard for us.
