Seven pounds soft
This is the direction I would like to see the team go in during the next few years. Start of the season lineup would be ( Hansen traded for pick ) Sedin Sedin Burrows Higgins Sutter Vrbata Baertchi Horvat Dorsett Prust Vey Virtanen Kennins Edler Tanev Hamhuis Corrado Sbisa Webber Bart After deadline lineup would be. ( trade Vrbata, Prust, Hamhuis Higgins for picks and 4th line center ) Sedin Sedin Virtanen Baertchi Horvat Burrows Kennins Sutter Vey Gaunce 4thlinecntr Dorsett Jones Edler Tanev Sbisa Corrado Bart Webber Pedan Finish out of the playoffs for good draft position. Top 15 plus all the other picks acquired in trades and let benning do what we hired him for. Draft studs. Sign Hamhuis and Lucic on July 1st. Rebuild complete. Edit: 2016-17 lineup Baertchi Horvat Virtanen Sedin Sedin Lucic Kennins Sutter Shinkaruk Gaunce Cassels Dorsett Grenier Edler Tanev Hamhuis Corrado Chychrun Sbisa Pedan Edited by Seven pounds soft, Today, 10:06 AM. Gstank29
Why does everyone insist on giving Virtanen the first line RW job when we have other players who are more proven? (even if it's next year not many players go from 4th line to 1st line after their rookie season) Also Chychurn will be top 5 not in the 5-15 range

The point is to get the young guys into the lineup while being mentored by our vets and staying competitive.

Chew on this one for a second... Hansen: '14-15: 81GP 16G 17A 33TP -6(+/-) 27PIM 13:58TOI; Career: 470GP 77G 107A 184TP +28(+/-) 201PIM - $2.5M AAV Sutter: '14-'15: 80GP 22G 11A 33TP +6(+/-) 14PIM 17:19TOI; Career: 495GP 98G 87A 185TP +8(+/-) 94PIM - $3.3M AAV Only knock against Hansen: he's 3 years older than Sutter. Why would you want to trade Hansen? He's still relatively young, can play in most situations, has speed to burn, is responsible defensively, can PK with the best of them, gives an honest effort every shift...and he's a known/proven commodity. He's the perfect third line RW who can play both wings and has more value to the Canucks right now than Dorsett, Virtanen, Vey, and arguably Burrows. The only RW who I would give higher value to is Regular-Season Vrbata (Playoffs Vrbata - he falls to about no. 8 on the depth chart in my books). Seven pounds soft
I'm not a Hansen hater. We should make room on our roster for our young guys though. IMO Hansen and or Higgins are the logical choices to be replaced. Nothing against them. They both had there moments but it's time for change. captaincowbasher
No matter what Vrbata plays with the Sedins at least until the trade deadline, playoff teams will be looking to add scoring and if Vrbata has 25-30 goals by the deadline the Canucks will easily retain a 1st and plus for him. He can log big minutes and he's carried Bieksa for the last 3 years, put a quality player with him and you have a new number 1 pairing...or at least a 1B situation. We have 4x defensive D in Hammer Tanev Bart Corrado. I hate to say it but he's Probably going to be moved if were out of a playoff spot since his value is high and he's ufa If he wants to come back he can but there will be better younger free agent options. I would be happy if he stayed but even happier with a first round pick and Erik Johnson. Love Hamhuis though.

And Lucic anchoring the Sedins and I don't mean that in the "good" way. Thanks for the input.
