Ghostsof1915
How about shutting down two clubs Florida and Arizona, give Vegas and Quebec City their money back. 28 teams, 4 divisions:West:Pacific Division:Vancouver, San Jose, LA, Anaheim, Colorado, Calgary, EdmontonCentral:Chicago, St. Louis, Columbus, Winnipeg, Minnesota, Dallas, Nashville East:North East:Toronto, Detroit, Ottawa, Boston, Buffalo, Montreal, New JerseySouth East:NYR, NYI, Philidelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Carolina, Washington Play every team home and away, conference games twice per season = 82 games. No expansion. Just imagine a dispersal draft with guys like OEL, Luongo, Huberdeau, Ekblad, Domi, etc. Edmonton if it picked right might finally have a decent defence and Goaltender. Lol. Lol.NHLPA would never agree to losing 2 teams. Also NHL Revenue would go down, salary cap is linked to revenue, not profit, so every team would lose cap space. US TV deal would be less on renewal. The revenue would not go down, it would go up. Because the remaining teams would get free players. It also gets rid of two money losing franchises which means owners long term can keep more money. I'm pretty sure if Columbus relocated to Las Vegas the ratings in Vegas would be a lot higher than either one of those cities. I'm also sure the ratings in Arizona and Eastern Florida are negligible for those two clubs. The NFL has been without a team in LA for decades and it hasn't effected the TV ratings has it? If you remove two teams, revenue will go down. Sure they are losing money, but they still have some revenue. Sending the players to other teams doesn't change that. It's a moot point anyways as the NHL would never again get rid of any teams. They might move them, but they won't buy them back and fold them.
