Kurisu Posted April 22, 2020 Share Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) Report: Bolts acquire Modin, Zanon In the run-up to Friday's trade deadline, the Lightning have struck early, bringing home a familiar face as they prepare for another playoff run. Returning to the club is Fredrik Modin, an alternate captain and integral part of the Bolts team that lifted the 2004 Stanley Cup. Fans will surely be excited to see the Swedish winger return, and hope he will provide a jolt of offense in the bottom nine. Modin is expected to slot in on the third line for his first game back, likely with Jochen Hecht and Eric Belanger. Freddy will also be making his way on to the second powerplay unit, where his rocket of a shot could help turn around the team's lack of success with the man-advantage. Ryan Craig is expected to draw out of the lineup to make room. Also joining the team is veteran defender Greg Zanon, swapped with Kyle McLaren in the deal in order to provide cap space. Greg is well-known for his bravery and teamwork, and will feel right at home at a team that understands the value of quality defensive defencemen. Greg will be a like-for-like swap with McLaren, playing on the third pair and penalty kill. It is unclear if the Lightning are planning any more trades close to the deadline.
