So how's he doing? I thought he would be doing a lot better offensively since he played all season in the SEL

I think he's going through what alot of young players go through when they're starting out.

He probably thought that he would be able to transition easily into the NHL, but obviously that's easier said then done. I think now his ego has taken a little bit of a hit, because he's not as close to playing in the NHL as he thought.

I would expect him to refocus in the next little while here and get back on track. It's these kinds of trials that make players stronger in the long run.

Think his body finally realizes it is in Canada... Add the amount of hockey he played since coming here.... Might be a little burned out

Could be part of it. He's also been on the third line, though. Kinda hard for him to move up when the Wolves have Haydar, Sterling, Matsumoto, Gordon, Schroeder, and Sweatt (in no particular order) as the top 6 forwards. And he doesn't have a good centre to play with either, the bottom 6 has been a revolving door of players for most of the year. That said, he should still have more than 4 points in 16 games, it is a little disappointing to see.

The Wolves org is pretty mickey mouse. I wouldn't want Jensen playing there for any length of time. Look forward to a Canuck owned AHL team next year.

Most AHL org's are very mickey mouse. Never knowing when players are coming and going. Hard to plan stuff out. How ahl GM's and coaches arent alcoholics after speed bump after speed bump is beyond me.

#Canucks 1st round pick Niclas Jensen has had communication with Denmark about the world hockey championships.

But Jensen is exepected to be assigned to Vancouver sometime this week.

It's not bad at all for him to play for his national side, especially if he's only going to sit in our press box and watch, but I wonder if we don't think he could be more useful here. It starts in just over a week, and Denmark plays Canada in their first game against Canada on the 4th. It's not like we could keep him for part of the 1st round then release him in time to get to the Worlds if we feel we won't need him, and if he goes he wouldn't be available to us again until the second round.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

By the looks of this Jensen was unlucky to only have 4 points and he was parked on the 3rd or 4th line most nights. He did have that sweet shootout goal

IMO he has yet to impress. Doubt he will lace up again for the canucks until next season.

As of now is Jensen still LW/RW? Or has he settled into a certain side?

He can play both more or less equally well, but was used at LW with the Wolves this year. Still surprised that he wasn't paired with Schroeder more when the option was available.

Should he go play for Denmark at the World, instead of sitting upstairs and get few practises with Canucks??

Chances of us using him in the playoff is slim, if we do, it's because we desperate and behind in our series, which should mean a short playoff for us??

I thought he decided not to go for the IIHF tourny that's starting right now? I'm not quite sure but I read some where back probably it was on this thread that he decided that he shouldn't go or he was cut from the team I think he was cut from the team.

Not sure can someone else clarify this please?

I'd be amazed if he was cut from the team. He's absolutely CARRIED Denmark at all of the recent tournaments he's played in. To be fair, most have been U20/U18s, but still, he's too good and Denmark's talent pool is too shallow.

You only had to scroll up a bit to see it. They wanted him to go, but it appears he's decided against it in order to join us for the playoffs.

hard to say which would actually be more beneficial.  i suppose seeing how to work in the playoffs would be beneficial.  he would actually get to play games in the iihf though.. tough call. edit* just had the thought that he might be pretty worn out at this point. one of the few guys whose been playing since fall.

He didn't do much to help Denmark qualify for the Olympics (0 points in 2 games played against Ukraine and Slovenia), which they failed to do, but I would expect he's a regular in their lineup from here on out when he wants to be.

Can anyone find a video of the goal? IIHF doesn't even have a picture of it.

edit: Apparently it was a wrap around and it got saved, but buried the rebound.

Awesome. He needs to get his confidence back after struggling with the Wolves there.

He's clearly a pure goal scorer. Thos types of players might not flourish under a coach like Arniel (or AV).

Its really too bad the Sedins were making it hard for him to use his shot when he played with him. They kept the play behind the net and he couldnt get open to use his shot. He has one hell of a wrister and if he can make the space to use it at the NHL level then he can be a gamechanger.

Love seeing that from him again after a lacklustre return to the AHL.
