Being a 1st hand fan, and speaking from the experience of watching Jensen play, I am going to cut him some slack for his lackluster performance. I know he has been in the system for awhile, but this year his performance has been altered by conditions beyond his control. He is playing on a 1st year team, in a new city, surrounded by new faces and playing under a new coach. It's hard for coach Green to get this guy to perform because of consistent line changes and call-ups. I know, he should be able to adapt, but I can see why he can't.
It won't get any easier with Fox, Gaunce and Shinkaruk all coming in next for certain, while Labate also maybe coming in next season as well. (Labate originally said he planned to play 3 years in NCAA before turning pro, there hasn't really been any update lately on what his plans are).
That's a lot of guys coming in that can push him down the organizational depth chart. He really needs to have a strong second half and summer/training camp in the fall or he really could plummet quite a bit.
He's still too young to call a bust and there's been a lot of circumstances that can be blamed on his inability to perform. You could honestly compare what has happened to Jensen to what has happened to the youngsters in Edmonton. Jensen has played under like 4 or 5 different coaches (Junior coach, SEL coach, AV+Torts(training camp+exhibition games) , Green, MacT and Arneil) in the last 3 or 4 years. Similar to what has happened with the HC job in Edmonton and a lot of people are now starting to say all the coaching changes have really effected their development from great prospects into bonafide superstars and more like great prospects into good NHLers
