lol hasek and roy are in a much different league than luongo can't compare the them with luongo. Hasek and Roy were just plain amazing and accomplished a lot in their careers, especially Roy. They both won the stanley cup, they both won numerous numerous vezina trophy. Roy won the conn smythe once and hasek won the hart trophy once with 3 nominations. Luongo is ok but not in the same league as these two. Only other goalie comparable to them is Brodeur right now

Of course. Back then, in their context, high scoring games were the norm due to pads, goalie style etc. This doesn't take away from the achievement though. Just statistical speaking, he is better. In context, though, Roy and Hasek were a head above the rest and Luongo is not on their level (yet, perhaps?).

His regular season stats are identical to Thomas in twice as many games, except shootouts where he has Thomas beat by double (again though, in 2x the sample size).

I wonder what Louie's #s would look like with Zdeno Chara boxing out players in front of Louie's crease over the past five years...

Luongo has the potential to steal a game... but he also has the potential to lose it. I get the same feeling watching Kevin Bieksa. The guy can be a real difference maker, good or bad.

The concern shouldn't be whether Luongo is a great goaltender or not, it is which Luongo will show up. The luxury of having another legitimate top-flight goaltender as a backup is just that, a luxury.
