Luongo 1 year ago helped Vancouver get to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 16 years, posted 2 shut outs and watched his team only score 7 goals in the series, game 7 watched his team not score 1 goal. Once again this team just can't score, doesn't matter who is your goalie if your team can't score you can't win. Face it this team needed scoring going into the playoffs, and MG traded that away, this is all MG's fault.

Gillis won't fire A/V. He will just look back at his silly CoHo trade and lament that for awhile.

Going with Schneider makes sense because

(a) if the team loses, the blame won't be put on Luongo.

( b ) the team played pretty good in front of him last game no reason to change him.

The team's gotta score goals people!

I don't think it's that at all. AV has been steadfast in the past...

He's also never really been at risk of losing his job in the past though..

Why is it that every time Schneider plays, the defense is better?

Maybe Schneider is making the defense look better. If not, then we should play Schneider should we not? Since the team plays "better" in front?

Luongo also let in 20 goals during that series.

The team allowed 20 goals against, just like when there's a shutout it's usually a result of great TEAM defense as well as goaltending.

God, all you keyboard warriors that think a shutout or strong save % is always a pure reflection of the goaltender need to try playing a sport and experiencing some teamwork.

Honestly, I don't think this tells us anything about what happens in the summer. Yes it's a big elimination game but we're in a 3 game whole, nobody really expects us to get out of it so I don't think it's the same as starting Schneider if we're down 3-2 or tied 3-3 or something. I think that AV and the team feel that both goalies give them an equally good chance to win and starting Schneider takes some of the heat off of Luongo if the Canucks lose. Maybe Luongo will be upset and want a trade, but maybe we lose and Luongo appreciates not taking all the criticism that we all know he would get whether he deserves it or not.

Basically, goaltending has not been the problem and either one would give us a good chance. Whether we win or lose will depend on how the rest of the team plays tonight.

Either Luongo or Vigneault will be gone next season. I can't see how either can co-exist after this. AV just burned a bridge, I bet Luongo is absolutely pissed.

AV was told.

MG built the Lou bridge and AV maintained it.

MG just torched the Luo and AV bridge he created.

MG just made a move to protect his own 'you know what'.

Neither will be with the Canucks within days or weeks.

I guess you missed game 3 in Boston. Where the team killed a five minute penalty in the first. At the start of the second Luongo let in a ridiculously weak shot that turned out to be the beginning of the end for the team.

Let's hope that Schneider does well. if not, let's hope for a Tim Thomas situation!
