I havn't been online or on the forums for past few days. Was there a Shannahan video on the elbow henrik took from Dustin Brown? I think. Just wondering because I dont think he got a suspension.

Are you talking about when Brown crushed Henrik and he had to leave the ice because he had the wind knocked out of him but then came back and played a monster shift?

It was a clean hit.

Are you talking about the hit in Game 3?
If so, it was said by AV and Hank that they both felt it was a clean hit, which most people will say it in fact was.

Grapes says it wasn't a clean hit - it was a cheap shot.
Henrik was being checked by another King and Brown came at him from behind - would have hit Henrik in the back if not for Henrik turning around at the last moment....
Brown was attempting to injure him - was trying to check/just hit him.

It was a clean hit.

Surprisingly, Don disagrees.

Do you mean Henrik's elbow on Brown?

I don't recall Brown ever elbowing Hank, though he did flatten him (clean hit).

It's hard to determine that. It looks more like he was coming at Hank's side. I agree that Hank was spared injury because he turned, a hit from the side would have been awkward as hell. A hit from behind would have been even worse.

That still frame takes place while hank is in the process of turning. Had he not turned towards brown that would have been a check from behind. In no way Hank is able to protect himself.

I don't think there should have been any supplementary discipline, but I do think that Brown is lucky Hank turned into it and wasn't hurt.

I agree. I don't like the hit. It's just that it was ruled as a clean hit, so no Shanny video like the OP was looking for. He did turn, and Brown caught him in the chest. It still looks to me like he was hitting him from the side, not behind. Even the frames leading up to that didn't look like his back was ever square to Brown.

Brown's not the only one that was lucky there.

Probably a more accurate assessment would be that it was a "legal" hit.

As Grapes said, it was a calculated play by Brown. He knew who it was he was going after and did what he could within the rules to take him out of the game.

Legal, but not clean. Brown should be given the same treatment that Keith gets at some point next season. The message needs to be sent that the twins are not fair game.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Nope and I thought it was great. Brown gets taken out by not one, but both Sedins.
He came up seeing quadruple.

Seriously? That was nothing. There are worse shots delivered in virtually every scrum in front of the net after the whistle has been blown

Compared to Marchand speed-bagging Daniel and getting away with it last year, Hanks little jab at Brown might as well have not even connected. Further to that, if the situation had been reversed, we'd have a bunch of clowns calling "embellishment", or telling Hank to stop acting like Thelma or Louise...

OH PLEASE. If this happened to one of the Cancuks you'd all be up in arms until next season.

Hard to tell if it's an elbow (most likely not), but the hit did come from Henrik's blind side, so there is room for argument.
The hit isn't much compared to some of the other crap that's happened across the league.

Trust me slick. I've been watching the Canucks since day one. Little love taps like that haven't got me upset since about '71. Of course, I was only 10 then...

On Henrik's elbow...Brown's probably been tickled harder than that, TBH.

Not a clean play, no. Should've been a penalty. But a suspension would be ridiculous; he didn't hurt him with that little thing, Brown even managed to sell it pretty nicely.

Yea of course we would, because we'd be penalized for diving, while the nhl's favorite teams and players get nothing for speedbag punching and aggressive crosschecks during scrums.

Maximum penalty is a fine. At this point in the playoffs, superstars get away from a lot of things as long as they don't result in injury. Just look at Weber. His antics were bizarre and over the line, but Shanny's set the precedent that as long as there's no injuries, superstars will continue to play.
