Let's Face It, Kesler Is Better Suited To Be A 3Rd Line Center

I cannot believe some of the dumb statements that posters make.

eg. 'Kesler never shows up' You have got to be blind to say something like that. Kesler is the guy that many picked to be the captain of the team. He is also the guy that played in Game 7 with a hip requiring surgery and played this year with a shoulder that might require surgery. He is also a guy who has never expects anyone to protect him, he gets right back in the face of anyone who bothers him out there. He is also a fierce competitor who hates to lose. He also is one of the best conditioned athelets on the team.

A 3rd line centre? Ya sure if you have Cosby and Malkin as your top 2 centres.

We could use more players like Kesler that will do anything to win.

No I believe Kesler is a 30 goal scorer and can put up 60-70 pts. The long offseason is going to do him a lot of good and let him catch up, him and Booth will be training together and will build stronger chemistry. Kesler is a solid 2nd line centre and a board line #1 centre.

But overpaying for role players is what the Nucks do

Malhotra - $2.5M for face off specialist

Ballard - $4.5M 3rd pairing D man

Booth - $4.25M for 15 goal scorer

Kesler - $5M for shutdown centerman/diver extraordinaire

Raymond - $2.5M does nothing

Sedins - $12M - can't score in playoffs.

Too many passengers on the Nuck's bus.

Kesler has increased his point productivity every season he has played with the canucks, 7 years each season he climbed hin points, showing no downward trend. He was a selke finalst in 2009/10 season and won the selke in 2010/11 season. He had hip surgery in the offseason meaning he couldnt hit the Ice till october. He had an off year this year, Canucks fan base have lost their minds. If he has another off year next year then critisism can start, but its definitly way to premature. Keep this up canucks fan and noone will want to play for the canucks let alone play here for a discount.

The Op's post is the type of post that makes it difficult not to contravene the rule of attacking the post not the postee. I'll be good and dream of running him and the 12 idiots that liked his post through the boards.

Kesler had an off-year likely and it is widely known that he was coming off major hip surgery. No off season training, no 150 shots a day like the summer before. Cut the man some slack. I'm not his biggest supporter by any means. I have never thought he was your traditional centre, he doesn't dish the puck very well and I hate when he gets into chirping and diving mode. Still, I recognize the value of his defensive and offensive capabilities. Apparently the league recognizes it too , with back-to-back Selke nominations and the win last year.

Your post is an idiotic solution and your Hodgson fan-boy status comes flying through. Frankly, I'm tired of Hodgson talk. He chose not to be here. He didn't want to pay his dues. In the defensive zone it looked like the only checking he has done was at his local bank. He's gone , get over it. On more than half the teams in this league Kesler might be the top-line centre never -mind second or third.

Yea I said it. Let him shut guys down on the 3rd line and put up 60 points quietly. When you put too much pressure on him he crumbles.

I know what everyone is gonna say, "But he had 40 goals 2 seasons ago!". Yes, but that was an anomaly and a result of a ridiculously good power play.

What hurts so much about this is that we lost Hodgson who could have been our 2nd line centerman and got those cushy offensive minutes.

Looks like everything rides on Schroeder and his ability to develop. I've seen his Wolves highlights and the kid has got great vision and playmaking ability. Love to see what can do with the likes of Booth and Higgins on his wings.

i believe kesler can be a point per game player, way too early to demote or ridiculously start giving up by trading this guy. they brought booth in and it mostly failed, so the real question is, who is gonna be on the second line with kesler...

having said that, i recall a few years back when kes and burrows were third liners, shutting down the opposition's first line, they actaully outscored them too throughout that portion of the season, before coach v elevated burrows to the sedin line and kes as a second line center.

Your're right, you are ridiculous. If you can't see the value of having talent like Hodgson centering your second line and Kesler centering a checking line, if you can't see how strong that would have made this team this season, then you sir are ridiculous.
