I know, I just want to know if Kesler will be ready if a deal is signed and the season starts.

Love the optimism boys and girls, but lets not forget this thing can turn sour in a hurry.

We've all been threw it before

Yeah, no kidding. Why would he. As long as he keeps his mouth shut he gets paid.

@NYP_Brooksie

As I implied a few hours ago, simply splitting difference (if that) on remaining issues was not likely to cut it for PA. Much work ahead.

Ok so as a review, Centre for Disease Control. The issues at hand:

- Length of CBA (players want 7-8 year max, owners want 10 year max - opt out option at 8 year)

- Make whole amount (players want 393m, owners offer 300m with 50m in pension - both are contingent upon 10 year deal)

- Salary cap for 2013/14 season (seems to be the biggest issue, players want 65m cap, owners 60m - though having no cap on escrow shouldn't create such an issue)

- Pension (seems to have popped up recently, current proposal has players paying pension)

- Max contract length and variance (players want 8 year contract max, owners want 6 year max - 7 for RFA, current variance proposal is 30%)

@TGfireandice

It sounds like players have agreed to 10-year CBA with mutual out after Year 8. Were previously looking for the out after Year 7.

@TGfireandice

Although this is a small group meeting, told they are talking about the big issues. Past point of needing small groups on individual issues.

@TGfireandice

IF - BIG IF - deal gets done in next couple of days, they wouldn't have to wait to Jan. 19 to start. Could start sooner, maybe play 50 games

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Someone who I feel has "sense" of where things are just told me: "There's a bit of frenzy going on now that may not be entirely justified."

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Person wasn't being negative, just noting there seems to be a runaway train of optimism that may be a little excessive. Food for thought.
