Has Weather Ever Canceled NHL games?

Recommended Posts

In 2010, a Carolina/Florida post season game was cancelled, but it's post season so it wasn't re-scheduled.

Jiri Fischer's situation probably relates the best.

Following a year in the Czech League, Fischer returned to the NHL where on November 1st, 2005 in a home game against the Nashville Predators he suffered a heart seizure and collapsed on the Red Wing bench. Although Fischer was unconscious for six minutes, he was resuscitated by CPR and defibrillator before being taken to a Detroit hospital. The remainder of the game that night was cancelled, and made up in Janaury of 2006

Not totally weather related, but game 4 of the 1988 Stanley Cup finals game between the Oilers and the Bruins was called off part way through the game.

There was fog in the arena and you could hardly see what was going on, then the power went out. The game was tied 3-3 in the second period. They called the rest of the game off and went on with the series. The Oilers completed the sweep the next game, back in Edmonton. So they essentially swept the 4 game series in 5 games.
