nitwitt
Mike Gillis is willing to trade one of the Canucks best drafted players in the last 20 years in COHO for a player who "might" be the allusive power forward that we all want but when it comes time to actually retaining a legitimate power forward in Ryan Clowe(ranked 3rd in power forwards 2 years ago by TSN) he won't give the Sharks the asking price... Massive missed opportunity by this absolute "door knob" of a G.M. I should temper my disgust because he did get Roy who will help massively...ONLY if he centers Kesler(RW) and Burrows(LW). Sedins need to play with Kassian and Kassian better have a fire lit under his ass and play like an animal. The third line would be Raymond, Schroeder and Hansen. Higgins, Max and Wiese completes the forward lines.

CCF4E
Actually it was down to us and NYR, but Clowe waived his NTC for New York. It's not like Gillis didn't try, Clowe just wanted to go to New York instead of here. Get over it.
NUCKS4CUP 28
I think you miss the part where Clowe said no to Vancouver and yes to New York.
Konn Smythe
MG didn't get Clowe because Clowe chose the Rangers over the Canucks to be closer to home. EDIT: Yeah, what they all said.
ButterBean
MG prolly pushed hard to get him but San Jose would rather send him to the East and giving multiple draft picks is risky. I really wanted to get Clowe because I think he gives us a HUGE boost in toughness.

Beluga Whale
Next time get the facts before making a fool out of yourself. San Jose accept deals from us and the Rangers. They left it up to Clowe to decide which team he wanted to go to, he chose the Rangers.
Zoolander
As others have said above, MG did all he could and ultimately it was up to Clowe himself. Having Roy in the line-up now gives us options...he can either play alongside Kesler and bolster our 2nd line (which would involve either him or Kesler moving to W) OR he can centre what would be the best 3rd line in the NHL (Higgins-Roy-Hansen)
Lockhart
If the deal was good enough SJ wouldn't have even given Clowe the option of going to NYR, they could have said sign off on the Vancouver trade or ride pine the rest of the year.
