Can We Trade The Sedins YET?

Recommended Posts

Idgaf what they've done for Vancouver. They've done piss all for the Canucks except go invisible in the playoffs (and slump multiple times a year in the reg season). Their days of circling down low are done since the refs allow the other to grab and hold them. Look at other teams' top stars. They might go into a slump or two in the reg season but they step it up in the playoffs. Even when Ovie slumps he still brings a physical presence to the game. The Sedins wouldn't hurt a fly. They don't shoot, they don't hit, they get pushed around, and they're terrible defensively. CAN WE TRADE THEM?

With 4+ years left at $7M, and regressing play, and a requirement that they play on the same team, plus theur NTC mean they go where they want, I"m not sure there is a match.

They'll want to go to a contender, and no contender has the cap space to pay $14M for essentially 2nd line players (on an elite team).

This is 10 times harder than the Luongo trade, as you saw how that was managed by Gillis.

Trading the Sedins will not bring back elite core type players.

It's the start of a long and painful rebuild.

It is what it is.

No doubt their game has declined quite a bit over the last couple of years.

But it's also not their fault that they're still the first line on this sorry team.

It's been said for 3 or 4 years now that if teams shut down the twins, they'd likely win the game. Well, here we are, and our GM has still done SFA to address the scoring depth issue.

How do you know that? One off season and they are now worth less than Dale Weise?

7 million each for the 75th placed scorers in the league? Sorry, they aren't going anywhere. We're stuck with them.

Yeah, only for this season. Couple of years back they won the Hart, Art Ross etc. and now we are stuck with them. Didn't know being in a slump and dealing with injuries can bring down the value this much. Maybe we could trade Hansen for Giroux, since he hasn't been that good this season.

A couple of years back, yes. Since then they have fallen off a cliff and gotten a pay raise. I do hope they can rebound but there isn't much evidence to suggest they will.

Want to use another example? Giroux started off very slowly but has put up 57 points in 59 games. You're missing the point that there are a numbr of issues that COMBINED make the twins untradeable.

Bozo the Clown used to be an elite clown.

Just sayin'.

The present and the future tends to be the stats GM's look at in valuing players when they hit the 30's. Not the past.

Much like Bozo.
