I think the NHL gave the Knights way too many concessions to make them competitive really fast. They still have 3rd best odds in the lottery for 2 more years right?

No they scrapped that rule

I haven't heard anything about that changing either, so I'm curious to see a source as well.

 

I won't mind it if Las Vegas really does suck for those years, because then the odds are about the same anyway. 

 

Also, if LV trades their firsts, does the new team get the guaranteed odds as well, or just the regular placement?

From a competition point of view I agree, they were awarded far too many advantages.  But then again they weren't really "given" them they bought those rights for a hefty expansion fee.  As always it isn't really about fairness it's all about the money.  GCG!
