  1. That 2nd line is defensively atrocious. Baer is the only responsible one. Not to mention soft as heck.
  2. Stecher only made the team when he did because of injuries. He very likely should have made the team outta pre-season.
  3. I am sure Manny also has a lot of good insight for Gaudette.
  4. All the recent winners had more points and coincidentally more goals than most of the runner ups. Huberdeau won with fewer goals than the runner up, but the difference was one goal. He had 3 more points. Patty Kane had 3 fewer goals than Toews, but had 18 more points. So that's not really comparable cause if Boeser played a full season he'd have had roughly 15 more goals than Barzal. All in all the last 11ish years all the point leaders also had more goals. And those that didn't were within 3-5 goals of the goal leader and had more points so the goal difference was minor. This would have been one of the rare years where we seen a guy had a 10+ point lead on the second highest scorer but also had 10+ fewer goals than him too. Which is what I am eluding too. Had Boeser played a full season the Calder race would have been much more interesting cause his goal lead on Barzal would have been close to 16 goals. For more proof, Keller had 10 more points than Boeser, but was 3rd in Calder voting. Yanni Gourde had 7 more points than Kyle Connor, but finished 2 spots lower than him in voting. Debrincat had more goals and more points than Dubois but Dubois is a center and does everything whereas Debrincat is primarily a scorer. Two way centers generally get more love than scoring wingers.
  5. Yes, but that plays into my point that points aren't the end all be all. Goals mean more than assists. Therefore the totality of Barzal's points don't mean as much when Boeser has a massive goal differential.
  6. Any particular reason why you think this? I mean, I imagine he's at least better than Gaunce and Archibald combined.
  7. Should ask Luongo to do it. Our most storied Captain.
  8. Shame Boeser never got a full season. Would have made the Calder race much more interesting. Guy was having such a fantastic year. Was on pace for roughly 38 goals 34 assists. Goals being worth more than assists would have made up for the 13 point difference between him and Barzal. He would have scored 16 more goals than Barzal over a full season. Hell, he scored 7 more goals than Barzal in 20 fewer games. Lol. Boeser is my Rocket Richard sleeper pick this year
  9. Yeah I imagine most people aren't hyping up too many kids for the 2022 draft just yet. Would be pretty neat to get all 3 Hughes brothers though.
  10. I see, being the better skater is quite the claim. Since Quinn Hughes is already a fantastic skater himself. Interesting to see how the youngest brother does.
  11. Do you really? I mean, more power to you. I am sure there are other people that do, I just feel weird doing it. Lol.
  12. If anyone does I'd be very worried and would suggest those people be put on a list. Do people follow kids that young? I feel like a weirdo tracking the progression of 17/18 year olds.
  13. As soon as we are ready to give up picks and prospects for someone to take him. I'd say at the earliest it'll be 2 years, when his contract becomes modified NTC instead of a straight up NTC. His base salary will also be a bit lower (4mil in the final 2 years), so any potential teams that aren't on his 15 team no trade list that are cheap will only have to pay him 4mil. Retaining salary would make it even better too. Contract is getting less and less defendable quicker and quicker.
  14. Could say this about Hughes as well. But you won't cause he's a Vancouver prospect. Boqvist's bust potential isn't higher than Hughes, I'd say they are both about the same. I'd even argue Boqvist has less bust potential because he is so much younger he has more time to grow and get bigger. Whereas we likely see the physical peak of where Hughes will be height-wise. 5'9/5'10. Boqvist can push 6 foot. Giving him a bigger frame to put on muscle if necessary. But given where the NHL is going they both should be fine at 190 or less. Not sure what you mean by "Hughes plays with bite", but in my books he's as soft as Boqvist. So I think you made this up to try convince yourself we definitively got the better guy which just isn't true. Probably a statement made by your inner Don Cherry. Euros are all softies with no heart. NOT LIKE THEM GOOD OLE NORTH AMERICAN BOYS. I really don't think you'd be calling Hughes the best player in the draft if we drafted 1st overall. You practically vomit homerism. Which is fine, enjoy your Canuck fandom however you please.
  15. Then why were people saying Boqvist was "severely undersized" when he was listed as 1 inch and a few pounds lighter than Hughes? Is it cause it only mattered when Hughes was bigger than Boqvist? I suspect so. They are both smallish and neither will have the size advantage over the other. People keep flip flopping on the narrative when their points are disputed.
  16. Should tell Montreal, maybe they'll pay a premium to acquire him from us so they can try him out as their 1st line center.
  17. Another lesser tier guy I almost always traded for in the NHL games. Good energy guy. Great replacement for Dorsett imo.
  18. The argument could be made Draisaitl is a center, but yeah that deal kinda hurts the market. Pastrnak dollars would be ideal. 8x7mil. Or literally the same as Pastrnak.
  19. Guy is a beast. Geez. He moves pretty good for a guy built tanky all around. Most guys are just built mostly in the legs and a bit in the arms. This guy looks like he's gonna fight in the UFC. Give him the C already.
  20. Bo - 22 goals, 64 games. 27 over 82. Baer - 14 goals, 53 games played. 21 over 82. Boeser - 29 goals, 62 games. 37 over 82. 65 goals total and they missed 18 games, 29 games, and 20 games respectively. 70 if anything is a somewhat bad year for them when healthy. They were on pace for 85 goals last year, on a bottom 10 team with arguably the worst or among to worst d core in the league. I mean, it's not impossible for them to push 100 goals together. But that's assuming they even stick together. Baer is a bit of a question mark on that line, but I think he gels nicely with Bo and makes sense to be in the top 6 with him. Bo and Boeser obviously have really good chemistry as well. Now back to the topic at hand, which should be Jake Virtanen.
  21. I do what I can. I am still pretty new-ish to the world of advanced stats but it's pretty interesting to dive into. I am working on my resumé to get hired by Toronto or Arizona.
  22. I don't see any places that keep that information. Hockey reference is where I go to find my advanced stats and zone starts is just where the faceoff was taken. Nothing I see says their percentage of faceoff wins in each zone unfortunately.
