    So I just got a bill from a collection agency stating I owe them $110.  It was from Telus, apparently I owed them $20 from a old bill in 2012 and instead of sending me any statement since then I now have to pay $85+ in interest.  Such BS, and I take it there is nothing I can do?

      Yup. I'm with @SabreFan1 don't even waste your time. Block their # and throw anything they send you in the trash.

       

      They probably bought the $20 debt from Telus for $0.50.  Really shouldn't hit your credit score.
