Management not even here for a year, and there's a salary cap. And only 7 teams have $4+ million available?
What the hell were you expecting?
Improving the D, acquiring picks, and shedding bad contracts like they said they wanted to?

I’m just going to throw my jersey on the floor of my living room instead of watching this game.
Make sure to practice proper ventilation if you decide to light it on fire.

Have you looked at the standings? Seattle have been doing great since they got rid of Cammy
Not really. Most of the Pacific has just been absolute garbage.

Losing by 1 would be a win at this point
A Podz goal would be a win in my books

I can't believe after 6 games people are already writing off the team. I am frustrated like many Canuck fan's but lets go Canucks and put a w in the wins column and get back on track. 3 or 4 wins changes everything. That's what I am hoping for tonight.
I think most fans understand that the team isn't THIS bad. But we also understand that the team is not a contender even at their best. So what are we? A middling team that's capped out, haven't acquired draft picks, and don't have much in the prospect pool. So, yeah, the team isn't going to lose 82 games this season and they will win again and will likely go on winning streaks this season. But, there's not a lot of hope that this team has what it takes to be a contender.

Can't blame them. Now tied for worst team in the league and the only team that has lost every game since the beginning of the season. WOW!
While we're all upset at past mgmt, current mgmt and the players, the reality is, the true culprit in all this and the only thing that has not changed is AQUA-LINI. He has meddled in and tampered with this team for years and prevented the necessary rebuild just to keep false hopes and revenue up rather than Tank, Dis-assemble the team and Rebuild. Until he is gone and we have new and proper ownership that allows the rebuild we will wallow in the mud forever. In the meantime DO NOT SPEND A nickel on this team!
Agree. As long as the message from the top is to get him revenue for two playoff games, we’re never going to see any meaningful rebuild.

Oh hey Calvin De Haan scored today. Not saying that’s the reason we should’ve signed him, but of COURSE he scores on the day we blow our home opener.

Team just looks awful right now - As noted by many, the team is very mentally fragile now (seems like a common occurrence here) which is strange since they are not rookies. Its the entire team - where are players like Boeser MIller etc. Are the players confused by the new defensive systems and structure? I really think they need a Pat Quinn-like moment and a throw-the-bottle across the dressing room to fire some a$$ Will they get start pissed off and responding to how other teams are starting to laugh at their pathetic record right now (80M+ for this?).
Demko has also been average at best - He needs to be better as well as the team in front.
Onto the next game...
Apparently they had sticks being thrown in the dressing room a couple games ago and nothing changed. There’s something seriously rotten in the locker room and something needs to give.

You can see the guys on the Sabres bench looking over thinking "w t f ??? " ...Wow I didn’t notice that at first. What an embarrassment.
They knew they had us right there and took it to us in the third.

I had some posters tell me Guenther would never translate well to the NHL.
We will find out very soon.
He is one of the best prospects in the league rn.
Even if he doesn’t become a star, I’d still much rather have him as a prospect and the Beags/Loui/Rous cap space over OEL’s contract and Garland.

OEL been good.
But I would still rather have Guenther + cap space.
Yeah, OEL is not the issue. It’s what we can’t do because we have OEL that’s the issue.

I was one of the few people on this board that was down for this trade. Holy crap did I ever take heat for that. Literally a dozen people jumped down my throat when I said I would take that deal calling me stupid for liking Lundqvist.
Not looking so bad in Dallas right now...
It’s illegal to acquire 1st round picks in Vancouver

It's not a secret tank. We've seen this act before. When the pressure is off this team will go on a run. When they get close and the pressure comes back on, they will fade.
Yup. They always turn it on in time to screw us out of lottery odds.

Wouldnt that mean 50% for the next 10 years?
No thanks.
I'd take a 3rd rounder and defensive or centre prospect instead.
I’m not sure how it works, but is it possible to retain only on his current contract remainder? Miller at 50% for just this season should still have value assuming he still puts up points this year.

It's only 6 games......let's see what happens.
Yeah, that’s a great point. It takes two to make a deal. But if the rest of the league soured on giving up assets for him, it makes me question why we threw such a massive contract his way.

By the way fans who watch on tv need to hear this. If you go to the game live two large IPA drafts with no food cost $45 tonight. (That is $22.50 each).
Canned beer is $11.50 each. Yes the same cans that cost $1.50 to $2.00 at the liquor store.
Two footlong bbq hotdogs were $31. Yes hot dogs.
It is not fun watching your team lose while Aqualini picks your frickin' pocket.
Awful corporate greed at work here fans. Yuck.
That is another reason why people booed this team. We are getting ripped off in more ways than one.
So that’s how they’re gonna pay for Green, Bruce, and whoever the next bandaid solution is.

Just now, NHL97OneTimer said:You were one of many. Now we have Miller too. Heck, I'm a fan of Miller on this team but I didn't like the contract. I knew it would take something for a long duration but that was just crap. It's tough to see any light out of this mess now.
I understand why he wasn’t moved at the deadline with the run we were on, but it was so clear to so many that a better course of action was to trade Miller in the off-season with retention for pieces that would align with building around Petey/Hughes/Demko. Miller is not in that window. Who knows how things will play out, but man there were plenty of us saying that was probably the way to go.

If they can ship out Miller a rebuild is salvageable. Boeser is short term, shouldn't hurt us, could be traded. Mikheyev could still add value to our roster, only three more seasons after this one.
Kuzmenko could be trade bait at the deadline, he's looked good but if this team continues to tread water I think he'll walk as a UFA. Lazar has been fine.
Yeah. And if we’re allowed to retain 50% on Miller for just this season, there could be a desperate taker at the deadline who needs to go all-in.
